Support your local demo derby.

At a time when the domestics are reeling financially, a Ford wins COTY.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
It really is an excellent pick. I'd have given the nod to the Taurus personally (though the Mustang was also in the running- a trio of Fords in the 27 finalists) because it's also a great car, and the new SHO is a fantastic car. A sedan I wouldn't mind owning, that's saying something!

The Mustang would have been a good pick as well- interior finally gets a much needed upgrade for 2010, its much more refined car than its nearest competitors, there's a wide range of models availble for pretty much any budget ($20,000-over $100,000!), and quality that is at Japanese levels. But....I'd wait until it gets a nice power boost in 2011 before I'd call it good enough to be 'Car Of The Year'.

Ford turned themselves around at the right time. Had this crisis happened just a few years earlier Ford would have been the weakest of the Big 3. Instead they came out in much better shape than GM or Chrysler, though GM is starting their turnaround off on the right foot.
