Looks absolutely brilliant I see plenty of cars in there I sent you, and they look better smashed up in your yard than they did before.I don't know how you came to destroy some of those cars though If the owner of the yard ever wants to part with the Tomica Cedric/Crown, let me know - I can provide him with more suitable cars

Looks good, Sean. It's so much better now, you can just go downstairs now to be with it, rather than drive so far. Fencing looks good too. When Sean moved to his house, he left me with pretty much half a yard, I kept some stuff I asked to keep. My layout here's now full again. Buncha crunchos I had here in a box helped, but Jon (bangerkid45) helped, too. He certainly helped Sean. Sean's influence, for good or ill, has been pervasive. Tonight, I took a JL Talladega, that was already afflicted with wheel damage, and did what I could with it. It's now in the front row. Chronic: the lack of Japanese vehicles. Same problem as before. I'll probably find 'em as I go along. I could also use a few more Germans. Same game plan. Out of what Sean left, there was a HW '62 Chevy pickup that I've decided to turn stock. Proper wheel heights and a proper Chevy color of the period, for instance. I have a wheels bank to choose from, should be fun. I recommend the building of a salvage yard to everyone here. It's a LOT of fun. Keeps ya out of trouble

OK Lil' mister...No more classic, musclecars, trucks for You absolutely a thing of HoRrOr! After seeing this monsterous lot of carnage, I will have nightmares for weeks.Seriously I'm lucky to not be a car/truck/vehicle... Sean has left no motored or unmotored make model or morphized piece of diecast untouched in this junkyard...amazing amount of skill and planning and Execution (literally) in it...I think it may be the most equal opportunity to mame all brands diorama I've seen. j/k. I'd also like to offer to restore any & many of the pieces involved (Mustangs a priorty) like that Majorette S&H Gran Torino(I could'nt do that man..). Great job Sean!...The Fence just nails it, and it's huge, glad I came and saw. |

Not big enough! I'm guessing here but about 5 feet long by 18 inches wide. It's the top of my dresser, right here in my computer room!

A lot of them came smashed up. Because trust me, I couldn't have done that to the Playart Mazda pickup...or the Winner Celica that has yet to be shown. As for the Crown, I paid way too much for it only to discover it was detailed by the previous owner. He did a good job on the chrome trim, but not so much on the headlights and taillights. Hence in the yard it sits for the time being. I'm leaning towards keeping it at the moment as I don't want to take a loss and it isn't worth as much tradebait as would be needed to pry it from me. But if you want to make an offer, go for it! I do have something else out aside for you at the moment too. |

Unless its brand specific, most yards have a wide variety of cars stocked. The bigger the yard, normally the bigger the variety. As you can tell from the narrow paths I have more cars than space at the moment, but one thing I wanted was variety. Sure it's top heavy on performance, luxury, and police vehicles, but that's what's available in this scale. I also did my best to include as many diecast brands as possible!Hot Wheels Matchbox Johnny Lightning GreenLight Yat Ming Tomica Majorette Corgi Playart MotorMax Zylmex Welly Mini-Dinky (yes, there's one in there!) Impy Lonestar Kidco Muky LJN Revell Husky Kenner Fast 111s Siku Ertl Road Champs Racing Champions Maisto And a pair in the crushed stacks only: M2 Machines Imperial And I'm pretty sure the Corgi Starsky & Hutch car is the one you gave me many years ago. Nothing done to it- I never got around to restoring it so here it sits for the time being! Speaking of which, there are a lot of members who have donated to this junkyard. My goal is to have at least one car from each member. Which is impossible, but a goal to shoot for nonetheless! The fence was made by Sak's lovely wife Carolyn, and I believe she's willing to make them for other members here for a reasonable price. |

The layout looks superb Sean. See a bunch of sweet old iron. The trashed derby car is a nice touch. I see a familiar John Deere loader as well. Perhaps I can work on a trashed derby car like a roundback or something like that to add to the yard. Something that would be pretty stock considering that's how all derbies use to be back in the 80s.Thanks for the great pics.

I measured today. 21 inches deep by 82 long. So its almost 7 feet long and its still not enough! @Zach: would love to have a trashed roundback or something similar from you!

As soon as the shelving next to my salvage yard opens up, I have plans to build a Volkswagen dealership. It's gonna be at least two thirds the size of the salvage yard set up. As I told Sean long ago- a VW dealer makes perfect sense. For different eras, as well. Other marques are problematic- For instance, Chevy offers a limited range. If you chose a year, it would be hard to get enough of the range to make the business look realistic, since certain models were never tooled. Volkswagen? Beetles. Buses. Kay Gees. You can even find Type 3 fastbacks. Golfs- two doors, four doors, cabrios. Jettas. Passats. And, now, CCs and Eos' from Norev. Das Auto. I'm looking forward to this one. |

Exactly- no one ever does the sedans and wagons, but VWs have a huge cult following and most of their cars have been made and most offered few configurations. One could make a case for an early-mid '80s Mopar dealership: Dodge Aries K wagon and sedan have been made, Omni/Horizon, 024 Omni/Daytona, Caravan, Diplomat, and Chrysler LeBaron convertible. Most of those due to Fresh Cherries. Between the diminished product lineup and the availability of most of those models, this is feasible. If I do a dealership diorama next to my junkyard, it will be Mopar for this reason. Anything else is going to be top heavy on Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, and muscle cars. |

Mopar's not a bad idea. Not bad at all. They didn't exactly have a certified pre-owned program in those days, but you could still put late model used (civilianizing, say, the various HW/MB/Yatming/Tomica Monaco casts, as well as the JL '74 and MB Grand Fury Police), as well as other late '70s makes. Cool idea. I still have the sign off the building here. I know you'd like it, but would you like me to make a bigger one for you? |

Wow Sean!! Looks amazing! I used the idea of fences (made by ??'s wife) and tweaked it a bit. If you're serious about wanting a wrecked car from members, I would be willing to donate to the cause. |

I'm working on one now. Sorry Sean but you are sort of getting a prototype of what I would like to grow into. I'm thinking of adding carpet to the front. it would be hard to see but good practice for me. I need to pick up a few more of these castings. I want one for myself and I know of another yard I would like to send one to. Ya know... I'm having a lot of fun with this one!

George, your idea for a VW dealership sounds excellent. If you decide to make one with the current VW range, I may be able to help you get hold of the newer Norev VW dealer models. Actually, they've just released the Golf MK6 GTi and new Polo. BMW would probably be my first choice though because nearly every model in their current range has been done in 1:64. Realtoy have done the 5, 6, 7 series, X3, X5 most of them, with Welly offering the 1 and 3-series, Majorette has the 5-series touring and Maisto has the 1-series coupe, Z4 and X6. And unlike the Norev VW's they can all be picked up much cheaper. I wouldn't mind trying to make one myself although instead of using VW's or BMW's I'd probably use Citroen, Peugeot or Renault as Norev has made pretty much every model from each manufacturer for the past 5 years. |
