You may have a good point, SAK. I was thinking about it on one of my long drives.....which brand/ or type car should be the "base" layer, where the other cars are stacked on top?? Volvo's, Renault's, boxy hatchbacks, or boring mini-vans and SUV's? Of course the ones on top would be rewarded the pleasure of being seen well, so should THEY be the terrible cars or the ones you like??
So many questions and ideas.... :P
I think it's best to save the most picturesque models for the top ones. There's a salvage yard in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, along the north side of the Route 1 Freeway, that's kind of like being reclaimed by nature. The cars you see, stacked on high, peeking out from the trees surrounding them are a total '70s cheese-a-rama: Gremlins, Pintos, Volares. You also see Karmann-Ghias and Cressidas. It's all quite a sight.

Nope, nothing's for sale. Though I have a good idea which ones you might be interested in, LOL!

I've also noticed you only tend to comment on my customs/dioramas if you want to purchase something or ask where I found something.
Now now Swifty...... You know i am always shopping. It is what I do best!!

Drop me a line when you get a chance - have a new venture you might be interested in getting involved with.

I can think of someone who's packing his car right now to make that oh-so-long trip down from the Great White North to sabotage that crusher.

James, you never commented on the yellow Vega wagon that sits very prominently in Swifty's Yard.
Sean set the bait; but you haven't bitten yet.
Here's a little hint for you:

Actually one of these days I need to detampo the stripes off the Vega. The meatballs are long gone...

Speaking of those doggies in the Oldsmobile, I need to trim them out eventually also.

Gunn's masterpiece arrived a few days ago, and here we see it in its new location of Swifty's Salvage. It looks great and fits in perfectly!

Better pictures coming if I can get this stupid camera to cooperate. :(

Yup! I never was able to finish it, and the stretch Camaro (and a '69 pickup) are still halfway completed as pulling tractors. I never did find appropriate running gear for either. I've gotten so bad about finishing customs I had to come up with this:

At that point in time I was using carb cleaner. Available in any auto parts store but I don't recommend it. Yes it gets the cars super stripped clean but the fumes....wow.

Taking my first gander at your junkyard, Sean. Looks great! But I just have to say.....classic Ferraris in a junkyard?? Really?? :o Not even in Italy!!

Hey, I have a car to donate. I was out walking Macey and I found a crushed MB Corvette in the road. I'll have to dig it up (at least I think I still have it) and bring it to CARnival.

Oh yeah, one other thing. The crusher looks fantastic ~ except, it's waaaayyyyy too clean!!!

Thanks Mark! The yard's set in 1985, so those would have been contemporary Ferraris at the time. ;) More likely to be wrecked off the showroom floor than twenty years later, that's for sure. And the crusher is brand new- has only crushed two cars so far. Hasn't gotten a good grimey build up yet. ;)

Jon, I use a heavy duty spray stripper I buy at Ace Hardware. Like $6 or so. Clean, and and relatively fume free.

1 - carb cleaner is good for detampoing ~ just keep it away from plastic "glass" because it will devour it. Nail Polish Remover (NPR) does a good job of detampoing and it won't eat the "glass". As mentioned, a good paint stripper is the best for removing paint down to the bare metal but again, remove all of the "glass" because the stripper will feast on it.

2 - regardless of the era of "Swifty's Salvage", I cannot imagine any Ferrari being tossed into a junk yard, especially if it's here in the States! :declare:

Some glazings are more sensitive than others, it seems. Some stand up to na/npr and others not so well...something to think about!

Looks really good  and is also about as frustrating :o as walking thru a real junkyard wishing you could have grabbed them before they made it in the gate, guess I will have to keep searching :toy: the repo lots to aquire what I have missed....sad so sad.

Very inspirational
