The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Hoping to get the junkyard moved to a more permanent home in the next few months so I can set it up again. Right now the cars are stacked three high as space is limited.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
This yard should be filled with Volvo's and Renault's, not classic American cars or Ferrari's. Who's the manager working there?

The yard is set in 1986. They weren't classics....they were clunkers. And the Ferraris were brand new. ;)

Nope, nothing's for sale. Though I have a good idea which ones you might be interested in, LOL!

I've also noticed you only tend to comment on my customs/dioramas if you want to purchase something or ask where I found something.

And a few new pictures of recent additions from old442dude, bangerkid45, and Velocity Arts (and one poor Firebird I saw on the pegs at Walmart that had casting flaws on the trunk):

Jealous of the 200SX fastback (a Yat?) and Fiat Dino Coupe (Playart?) even in that condition.

Great yard.

Cressidas aren't THAT bad... :P

Maybe the Land Cruiser was rusty or it had a lost title and couldn't be driven legally...

Cressidas are great cars- pretty much four door Supras. Hard to beat that! As for the Land Cruiser, vehicles run only as well as they're maintained. The owner of this one decided it was 'just Japanese junk' and beat it into the ground. Remember, the setting of this yard is 1986 and a lot of Japanese cars were still considered 'disposable' and 'cheap' back then. Which is a true pity since the Japanese made their best cars from the late '60s throught the early '90s.

Great job! But I can't understand why someone would put a DeLorean in a junkyard....

You've never driven one I take it?

I have. Absolutely horrible cars. Don't get me wrong, I love them and I wouldn't mind owning one... but make no mistake, it's a lousy car. An overly heavy body powered by the anemic PRV6 engine, in a car that cost twice as much as the Datsun 280 ZX or Toyota Celica Supra (four times as much as a Mustang GT or Camaro Z-28!) that it was competing with. Power steering wasn't even standard. In a car that cost $25,000 in 1981. That's ridiculous.

Also keep in mind the yard's setting is 1986. It would be a five year old car at the time and the eventual plan is to simulate an engine fire.

I drove one once and liked it, but have to agree on the rest, that the build quality was miserable even by Malaise Era standards and that I'd prefer a Bricklin or a well-made Sterling kit car (with the tilt-up canopy roof)

I need a junkyard dog or two! Good thing a few of the cars come with dogs in the back (like the Hot Wheels Mercedes and the Matchbox Vista Cruiser. I should detail the pups up on those models and make it so the junked cars are their respective doghouses. Or just cut them out of their cars and place them around the lot.
