Today's Car of the Day is Johnny Lightning's Hummer H1 Ambulance

This thing is awesome. What more do you need?

wikipedia

Originally released in the civilian market in mel, the Hummer H1 owed its birth to the popularity of photos from Operation Desert Storm and the enthusiastic campaign from actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who personally owns several variants of Hummer vehicles. GM announced that 2006 would be the last model year for the Hummer H1, with production winding down in June 2006 due to a new emission law for diesel engine vehicles, which took effect in 2007.

This particular version seems to be a bit JL inspired, but if you can find info on a real one feel free to share!

When that wussy F-350 can't get to you, you gotta count on this thing.

Seriously. You're out in the middle of nowhere and you like break your ankle or something. Not only are you in the middle of nowhere, you're in the middle of nowhere somewhere treacherous like the Amazon. You've got to have the most capable vehicle come save you! Be sure to drill it apart and stuff some band-aids in there before you leave civilization!

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
A nice casting from JL, appropriately large, and sadly under-used.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
That's a pretty impressive piece. I haven't seen that one. It would be a good one to have in one's Fire/Rescue collection.
How long ago was this issued? :o

A year or so ago but they just started arriving at Big Lots a few weeks ago. If you have one, check it! Real JLs for $3 (none of the Forever 64/40th Anniversary cars)!

I was thinking of Big Lots! when I read about the finds mentioned here, but within a few days of Christmas, I figured the place would be a zoo or already cleaned out. I'll give it a try this week---there are two near my work drive I do twice a week. There are probably a few left that I may want, but I'm afraid I may find TOO many, and at $3, what do I do??? My budget is bad after all the holiday spending.

I hit a few Big Lots yesterday at Fort Myers Beach in Florida. I saw several of them still on the pegs and I left them there as I had one already. But I did snag 4 dirty police cars.
