Today's Car of the Day is Matchbox's Mercedes-Benz E430 Wagon

The coolest taxi in my collection. I don't have many taxis, so that's not saying much! I love wagons, so this one has a special place in my collection; there are precious few wagons in small scale to my knowledge. I've had this one for quite some time, and it has a bit of playwear.

wikipedia

The Mercedes-Benz W210 is a mid-size luxury car–executive car which was produced by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz from 1995 through 2002 (production of the wagon variant (codenamed W210) carried over to the 2003 model year). The W210 replaced the W124 model. They were sold under the E-Class model names in both sedan (saloon) and station wagon body types. The W210 E-class heralded a brand new design idiom for the Mercedes 'face', which would continue until the C209 CLK. This idiom was the mainstream fashion used by Mercedes-Benz for a long period, and it made it on the SL, C-class, CLK, CL and S-class of the time. When the new CLK replaces the current model it will have been 13 years since this characteristic twin-headlamp design was used. The W210 quickly became the biggest seller in MB production.

My camera batteries died as I was taking the pictures of this one. Just as well, it finally gave me an idea for the sixth picture! Bad die-cast, don't kill my batteries

Support your local demo derby.

Sweet, a Mercedes that thinks it is the General Lee . . . I've seen it all now!

Noticed like you say this is an older release, does it have a metal base on it Robbie?

Indeed it does Zach. Painted black. This one came in an FAO exclusive 10-pack with all German cars. My godfather brought it back from a trip to Europe a good 10 or so years ago.

Well, the rights to the 1969 Charger were owned by Mercedes-Benz for awhile... Just some family heritage. ;)

i always liked that model i like the real car too.

if i remember rightly it was a very heavy little model for a more modern mb and was extremely well made.

abit off topic i know but was this model put into production before the hero city era? i know it was used in that series though

I believe it was around before then. And you are correct, it is quite heavy!

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
That scheme does it all for me. I probably wouldn't notice this casting twice if it were just a plain color scheme.
A very nice pece to have in one's collection.
