Today's car of the day is Motor Max's 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser Cygnus.

Wikipedia

The Toyota Land Cruiser is a series of four-wheel drive vehicles produced by the Japanese car maker Toyota Motor Corporation. Design of the Land Cruiser began in 1951 as Toyota's version of a Jeep-like vehicle and production began in 1954. The Land Cruiser has been produced in convertible, hardtop, station wagon, and utility truck versions. It is currently Toyota's flagship 4WD.

The weird thing about this model is the earliest Land Cruiser I can can find with this front fascia is a 2005. Yet, this model dates back to 1999-2000 and I've had it since the early part of this decade. That said the Lexus version looks very similar to this Motor Max and it would not be the first time that Motor Max badged a Lexus model (in the USA) as a JDM example (the Land Cruiser was sold in the USA but with a much different front fascia). Unfortunately I am having no luck finding an example out there to compare it to. So do we have any Land Cruiser experts who can steer me in the right direction?

Wikipedia

1998 - Toyota introduced the 100 Land Cruiser to replace the 80.

At launch the UZJ100 featured the first eight-cylinder engine (4.7-litre 32-valve 2UZ-FE petrol engine) in a Toyota four wheel drive.

Other engines in non-US markets included the 1HD-FT/E turbodiesel.

For the first time in Land Cruiser history, the 100 Series featured independent front suspension for increased on-road handling. In Africa and certain other markets, Toyota offered a 105 model, which retained the solid front axle for more demanding off-road use.

The Land Cruiser won Australian 4WD Monthly's "4x4 Of The Year" award for the third time in a row.

It was called the Land Cruiser Amazon in the UK until 2003.

1999 - In 1999 Toyota worked with Sega to produce an advertising tie-in for the Land Cruiser 100/Cygnus and other vehicles using the Sega Dreamcast. These featured detailed 3D models of the cars and other promotional video.

2000 - 50th Anniversary of the Land Cruiser. Total global production to date is 3.72 million vehicles.

90 Prados get active traction control (Active TRAC), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) systems as standard equipment in some markets.

2002 - All new 120 Prado is released and the 100 is restyled.

The centre of gravity was lowered by 30 mm, ensuring better stability and dual fuel tanks with a total capacity of 180 L in the new 120 Prado.

Downhill Assist Control and Hill-start Assist Control enhance the vehicle's stability under difficult off-road conditions.

2007 - Toyota unveils the Lexus LX570 URJ200 at the 2007 New York Auto Show.

For model year 2007 on Japanese models only, G-Book, a subscription telematics service, is offered as an option.

The right-hand-drive gives it away as a Japanese model. Sold in the US with that fascia as a Lexus LX450. I really like this casting, as the only diecast example of the Lexus....

Thank you! I had a hunch it was a JDM example but couldn't find any pics to prove it. :)

And I find it odd that so few Lexus models have been done in small scale. Seems odd to me.

Wow... Lots of criticism on this one- and not at all deserved. Sure its a replica of a soccer mom special SUV, but at least this is a Land Cruiser which gives it some off-road credibility.

Anyways, for anyone who thinks this was boring I'm making today's more exciting. And if Ivan doesn't like tonight's he can mail me his Mustang keys. :D

I'll give this one a little credit - it's a good casting, but the only downside is that it sits too low.

Statistically, almost 99 percent of American owners of "off road vehicles" have never used the off road capabilities, but most are willing ro pay for that capability for bragging rights.

That aside, this car is jusr plain boring and pablum looking, soccor moms can't save it.

I, too, am sorry to see how unappreciated this casting is. This was also released in a playset in burgundy, with mud-splatter on it, showing this little beauty can tackle an off-road adventure. haha

The Japan version was called Toyota Land Cruiser Cygnus:

Fixed that! Thank you for the tip, and probably explains why I couldn't find any pictures of it.
