Wide open rows, very few cars double stacked- seems way too open for a salvage yard.

An organized junkyard is better than an unorganized junkyard.

Just add a junkyard dog to keep thieves away.

Nice selection of cars there, Jon. It's a shame there aren't more older every-day British cars in 1:64 like there is in 1:4 though.

Good start.

By the way, I have something to add to it. It fits. We'll discuss later.

Over here, Sean had the ingenious idea of using insulation board as a base-makes a good simulated ground, the type you'd find in a salvage yard. I painted it brown to give it a good earth color. Hey, it's not perfect, but it looks nice. I think it'll look great on yours.

Remember the pic I tagged you with on FB? You'll notice the cars are stacked, in some cases, four or five high. Salvage yards are universal, after all. What's so special about this is how it looks so unkempt.

You need a couple of old Minis. They built the old Mini up to like 1999, so there are plenty of them out there. I think I have one or two to donate.

You're certainly on your way!

Looks good Jon! I like the fence.

In my yard, I parked the cars closer together...I also have a few stacks of flattened cars. For fencing, I used mini craft sticks from Joanns, hot-glued together, with a few car stickers and glued-on tires.

if i were you go for the classic 80s style yard then there will be alot of stacks
parts around etc. we dont tend to keep our yards to tidy over here .cars need to be put closer together etc

more of a true scrappy if you go 80s
as there more of a salvage yard now breakin cars for spares more than just pileing em up

I like it!!! As for a messy salvage yard and cars stacked up upon another is not always the case. I use to work at one and it was pretty organized and the cars were not double stacked. There were several rows of cars and they were on 4 metal stands and they were seperated by maker. Also you had section just for trucks and vans. Only the cars or trucks that were stacked were vehicles that were going to be crushed. So build on what you know. Its your vision and either way that you had it was perfectly fine. Keep up the great work.

Wow Jon!! Looks amazing! The wheels on the blue MB Citroen are pretty cool.

Few questions:
1-What is the car, third one down, in the second pic? (to left of the silver Sterling)
2-Where did you find your white Honda CRX? Is this a custom? (pic 11)
3-What is the white car next to the CRX? Is it a Majorette?
4-What is the silver car stacked on top in pic 5? It's next to the Tomy Lincoln. I think it's a Corgi.

1. Matchbox Skoda 130 (repainted)
2. It may be a repainted Zylmex, but someone also recently copied that casting, but I forget who. Summer or Suntoys?
3. Majorette Ford Mondeo
4. Corgi Vauxhall Nova

I just noticed a DeLorean sitting in the yard- that would be almost impossible, considered no right hand drive version of the DMC-12 was offered and only 23 were converted aftermarket. The odds of seeing one in a Britsh junkyard are astronomically low (despite the fact the cars were built in Northern Ireland!).
