Now here's a series of police cars I kind of miss. I wasn't a big Dukes fan, but the monacos looked very nice. I bought them all except the camo version, which vanished before I could buy one.

Like the lightning patrol, these can still be considered fantasy cars, but this is what I mean about doing a fantasy type series and still having it look like the vehicles could belong to a real police department.

Here we have nice wheels, nice graphics, good color... and a car that doesn't have two doors.

Of course, someone other than the JL design team came up with these...and that, I supose is the key ingredient to having the monacos look believable. We all have our limitations. We all have our financial constraints. But I really hope JL starts taking a look around more at the real world. The Fury police was a step in the right direction. Let's hope it's a sign of things to come.

Support your local demo derby.

They are suppose to do the correct B-Body Monaco sometime this year for the DOH series. But I do get what you're saying, it's a fantasy car in some regards, but at least they used a sedan from roughly the same time period.

I like this one best of the Hazzard squad cars. Nice pleasing color combo and believable period graphics. Nice combo!

Exactly, Sean...looks very believable. I don't mind some of JLs other fantasy police...but I wish they would make their Lightning patrol cars look like they could belong to a real police dept. somewhere. There's a lot of nice period police car graphics to choose from, if they only did a little research. From classics to modern, they could have a much more winning line for the police car fans.

I found this one from the Dukes release... My second `74 Monaco.

Being Enos Race patrol car in episode 7 (actually the real car was a 75 fury) this one also was wrecked along with hundreds of monacos and grand furys in that show.

That's been one of my favorites that they've done so far! The good news is they'll finally be doing a proper '77 Monaco this year! I have no idea if there will be Fury or Coronet variations on the tooling, but that would be great.

I'll echo what Dragnet said. RC2 has plenty of castings to use for realistic police cars. If the municipalities have a problem with their usage (I doubt any would), then use fictitious towns and cities.
C'mon RC2, dig out that Ford LTD and give us another version or two! While you're at it, you never gave us a '63 Galaxie police car, even though it's a two door. Why not make a four door Custom? You made two and four door versions of the '66-'67 Fairlane...
And then there is the '61 Galaxie casting. This casting was only used for law enforcement versions (the light green one is an "unmarked" car). They're hard to come by these days so why not offer another patrol car - we will buy them!! :toy:
