The car semi-truck for today is Die-Cast Promotion's International Transtar II Cabover.

International pioneered the cab-over tilt concept in the ´50s, thus setting the standard for functionality and ease of maintenance. By the ´70s, the configuration had evolved into the Transtar II, arguably the standout in a field of many cab-overs. Fleets and owner-operators could choose from the widest ranges of engines, transmissions, and rear axle combinations of any cab-over on the market (all told, there were fifteen different engines and fifteen different rear axle options!).

By manufacturing all subassemblies and components themselves, International was able to tailor each Transtar II to the specifications of each customer. Need greater fuel efficiency with less weight, or higher load capacity and a more rugged frame and suspension? International could make it happen. Durable, efficient, powerful, and most importantly comfortable, the Transtar II was the pinnacle of cab-over design.

This true scale, 1/64, casting was recently purchased last December. It features rubber tires, painted metal rims, steerable front wheels, working suspension, realistic cables and a painted engine. This model is based on a compilation of International Transtar Cabovers from the 1970s.

The 'Workhorse Trucks' is a special line by Die Cast Promotions to incorporate semi trucks that would appear in everyday work situations. they are designed to have slightly fewer details than the normal items that DCP sells and thus a lower price point. Included with this Int. is a trailer with 9 Jersey (concrete) barriers. This is the first time any company has ever done these Jersey barriers in 1/64 scale with some companies choosing to replicate them in HO or smaller scales.

The trailer is all metal as well and has the same tires as used on the semi truck.

Yep, this does seem to be a bit lacking compared to my Peterbilt 389

Very, very nice truck as always from DCP. Does the cab not flip up?

Also, I know why you REALLY bought this... :P

Harlan, they run about $30 for just the semi-tractor which can depend where you buy them online. If you want the trailer included they run around $50-$60 plus shipping, just depends on the trailer and if you end up getting the higher detailed line.

This is the place I ordered mine from, it's a dealer in Oregon.

They are pricey, no doubt about that, but the level of detail and realism for the lack of better words cannot be beat for a 1/64 scale casting of this nature.

Honestly never tried to lift the cab up to reveal the engine. On the more detailed line of this casting, I know they lift up but not sure if this does. Guess I'll take a look to see if it does. :D

Jersey barriers indeed! Hmm. I would've thought that phrase would've applied to the utter, wanton assault on your olfactory nerve from what wafts in the air (or used to, anyway) in the vicinity of the Standard Oil refineries at Exit 13 of the Turnpike. Wouldn't that have been a barrier to outside visitors to our fair state?
