My Tale Of Absence

:) I appologize for my absenteeism for about the past 2 months...I had hoped for an incredible new year 2010, but I suffered 3 mini-strokes on Dec. 27th, and was hospitalized for almost 3 weeks.
I have been a diabetic since 2001 and my numbers got so far out of whack that it almost killed me...I stunned the medical staff with blood sugar level over 500...(normal is 100 or under), and triglicerides of over 10,000..(under 1000 is prefered). I underwent CTscans,MRIs with & without contrast, large doses of insulin injections, I lost use of my left arm, left eye vision, and speech for some time..The headache I had for 3 days was the worst ever(I prayed to die), it hurt to move even slightly, but they would not let me just lay in the hospital. The physical therapists worked with me as much as I could stand each day, sitting up,eventually standing, then short walks, I looked at picture cards...knew what I was seeing, but could not verbalize...I'm doing better today, I was released Feb. 19 with all but some lingering effects, which I will continue to work on until I see the Nuerologist at the end of March...I was very lucky, had great care, and my wife Karen plus my family(Sister had a cancerous lump removed from her right lung this past weekend) has been here for me all throughout, I could go on, but I know you all get the topic...I pray for all to have good health, and have your selves checked..You just never know...God Bless and more later from Iowa.

Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery.
I am on that same road. Be easy on good days,
be happy on bad days, and be thankful for all days.
Best wishes and thoughts. :)

went badly, i was lifeless in a coma on a respirator for five days and in
the hospital for a month. Knock on wood i am doing well now.
