Todays car of the day is Hot Wheels' 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept. ( sorry for bad pics I dont have an open car so this one is still in the cardboard. )![]() ![]() ![]() Photo from Wikipedia ( there a compromise swifty) WIKIpedia The Chevrolet Corvette is a sports car by the Chevrolet division of General Motors. The first model was designed by Harley Earl and introduced in 1953. Myron Scott is credited for naming the car after the Corvette; a small, maneuverable war ship.[1] It has been produced in six generations in coupe, convertible, t-top coupe, and targa coupe body styles. Originally built in Flint, Michigan and St. Louis, Missouri, it is currently built at a GM assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The National Corvette Museum, also located in Bowling Green, documents the car's worldwide history and hosts an annual National Corvette Homecoming. Plenty of sports cars would come and go over the course of the last five decades; the Corvette not only survived, but thrived, outlasting and out-pacing the competition. In 2003 the Corvette celebrated its 50th anniversary as America's first true sports car.[2] |

I love that Corvette. It's one of the few HW that I bought several of. HW made a yellow version of that Corvette too, but I passed on it. Nice choice for COTD. |

Me too. This is exactly the Corvette General Motors needs to build. I have never cared much for Corvettes at all, but this concept is very attractive. Build this and people will flock to it. The Vette has stagnated ever since the '78 refresh of the C3. The C4 that continued the theme was fine, but to keep the C5 and C6 have stretched the limits of what can be done with the design language. This needs to be the C7. |

Support your local demo derby.

Does the current gen Vette still use leaf springs under the rear end? If so it shows how outdated the current platform really is. I'd agree with Swifty, they need to start over at this point and build a true roots car that also looks the part of a modern 21st century world class sports car. A design like the above would be a decent start. |

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!

Bust 'em loose, Scooter. Corvettes need to run loose in the fresh air.
