Support your local demo derby.

These pretty much tanked everywhere I ever saw them. Most were sent to Big Lot's and other discounters to my knowledge. They didn't help themselves by making these JADA or 1BR size scale wise either. Not one of JLs better ideas of the past few years imo.

I didn't care for most of the Foose line either, but I thought these were well-done and I like having the large/small versions:

Very, very cool looking cars... I got a sweet autographed poster from Chip from the convention and he even drew a cool looking Stang on it... He really does outstanding work... Sorry to say these big rimed cars just aren't my style... Not that they don't look good, I'm too old school I guess !!!

I love watching his TV shows and I like the cars he makes over on TV. But after seeing the diecast shown above, it confirms my thoughts on why I never bought them. Something about the shape of them just looks a bit too out of scale.

Here's how little regard I had for them when they were on the pegs: I thought they WERE Jada!

I know the scale turned me right off, but when they went on sale I scooped up the Chevies, just for old times sake. I bought a few more when they went on super sale for 1$ each, thought maybe I could use the tires etc, but they just don't work, although maybe I could swap out a few Donks for some bling tires off the FOOSE mobiles.

I was turn on then off by jada over a period of months. So when I saw these, I was a bit confused--so I just let them pass. I like this look on certain vehicles. For me, it's the sort of thing that either grabs you or repells you...these days I only grab them if the come in BWF, police car mode, and sometimes not even then unless I have extra cash and the collecting craze is running high.

The scale is a bit large. That wouldn't bother me too much if I liked the car though. Most of us that fall into the 1/64 scale craze are pretty methodical, or linear minded. We want our collection to fit and be compatible or it becomes a turn off. I still feel that way sometimes, but since I've let my collecting fall mostly into the 2 catagories listed above these days, I'm not quite as picky about that as I used to be. Otherwise I'm cutting myself off from a lot of the world, where 1/64 is not always the most desired scale as it is here in the USA. Of course, Tomica fits right in--and that alone is a universe that could keep me broke for the next decade if I allowed myself to follow all my urges.

Hey James.

If I'm missing something here, my apologies! However, these are not JL cars but rather branded by the parent company... or am I misguided?

Where did they sell these? I recall Big Lots and maybe K Mart before that.

Thanks,

Kimmo

I originally posted these in teh Misc Bay, one of the "Mods" moved them to Johnny Lightning. IMHO these were just another mistake made by the parent company of JL. One of many they made and will continue to make in the management of there diecast side of the house.

They could of done so much with these as actually JL issues and castings.

Wally's here in Canada was overstocked withthese and they hung on the pegs for almost 3 years before they were discounted. Let me see that means every Wally's got .......... 1 box

Man, this guy has done more damage to the hot rod scene than any one individual ever if you ask me. He's half the reason that I'm not big into classic cars anymore; half the owners go after his style, and I just can't stand it. It's rice for the grown-ups.

James is correct on this statement.
I think some stores got repeat cases of the same castings.
There was little variety.
I bought a couple when they first debuted being the "Impression" and "GrandMaster".
Later on, I bought a few more which are the same ones that James has illustrated.
I happened to like Chip Foose's work and wanted to have a few of these castings in my collection EVEN THOUGH the scale was LARGER than approximate 1/64.
On the down side, there was little variety so I never got to see other vehicles that were released.
At the time they came out, they were different and part of JL branding even if it was a bit of a stretch.
The JL Full Throttle Foose and JL Full Throttle Rock Rigs were another venture by the RC2 corporation that I believe were launched in the fall of 2006.
I saw the "Rock Rigs" in a hobby shop while on vacation in 2007 but never saw them locally.

Hi Kimmo. I was the one that moved this thread to the JL section. Throw the tomatoes at me! They do say 'JL' Full Throttle in the top left hand of the package which is why I thought this belonged in the JL section. If not, this lumphead of a mod can move the thread back to the General section.

You are not misguided.
The product was branded by RC2 Corporation as you stated.
I believe that it was strictly a marketing ploy and RC2 wanted to complete against Jada in this size of casting.
Actually there were two scales because you need to include the larger ? 1/24 or bigger castings.
So in reality the company was actually trying to compete with Jada in two different scales.
Was the company successful? I highly doubt it.

Kimmo, Walmart stores in Canada got the initial release in the fall of 2006.
With the lack of success in sales initially, I believe that RC2 eventually resorted to dumping a large part of its non-selling inventory to the deep-discounters such as Big Lots.
The rest is all part of history.

Thanks Kimmo for setting the record straight for others with your first comment.

Cheers. Cobra

The JL Full Throttle Hardcore Horsepower "Impression" is
one of my favorite diecast pieces. If Chip Foose would
deliver this one to my front door. Get out and hand me
the keys to this ride. I would turn goofy on the spot! :P
But until that happens i will enjoy this one. :toy:

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
Foose creations are pretty cool in my opinion, and are great street cruisers. So I was a little excited when the series first came out. Then when I noticed how off the Mustang was that I bought, I started looking at them all more carefully. I'm surprised Foose was convinced to portray his work in this manneer.

Most manufacturers by now should KNOW that diecasts are more an adult thing than juvenile. $1 are for the kids AND adults, but don't we all know that adults spend the $$ for the cars that cost $2.99 and up?? So I'd think the Foose cars were marketed for adults, but mistakes were made that affect adult collecting, especially size and realism.

I would love to have several of us here to sit in a room with the people who created and were responsible for these. Then pick their brain on how they came about their decisions, what sort of personalities they have, and what they did for a living prior to working at JL.

SAK, your comments are welcome.

Although I never bought any, the JL Full Throttle Foose cars were issued by JL/ RC2 . I recall Joyce from Kiddie Kar telling me about them 3 or more years ago and that she had some in stock. They reminded me of the original Malibus (before High Speed) that were issued back in about 05 ; as to scale size. I never got any of those either!
