Hobby Lobby?

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
According to the front page of the Lebanon Daily News yesterday, Lebanon is getting a Hobby Lobby! No Target, no Toys R Us, but hey, it's a start in the right direction. So my question is this- do they still sell Johnny Lightnings, GreenLights, etc. or am I getting my hopes up over nothing?

Support your local demo derby.

Last time I was at the one in Champaign late last year, all they had were large scale models that you had to build along with testors paints. No sign of any small scale diecast.

The last time I saw any Diecast at Hobby Lobby was after Christmas 2005,JL were on clearance for $1.99
and I spent close to a $100.00 :D

Sounds par for my course- Lebanon gets a chain that used to sell diecast years after it stops. Yup, that's my luck all right! :duh:

Hobby Lobby usually has a nice selection of models, and frequently has 40% off coupons (like Michaels) that you can get in an email. Interestingly, they recently opened their online store but you can't use the coupon there. :(

Yeah, Sorry Swifty... About 05 or 06, right around Christmas time I went to 3 of the Hobby Lobbys all around Columbus and spent well over a hundred bucks buying up all the diecast left... Got alot of stuff and all on a sale or clearence... JLs were like, 1.49 each and some lower, HWs at .49... Haven't seen any kind of diecast in them since !!!

Sounds like something that would happen around here. Every time we get more stores I feel like they're just taking up space due to the fact they carry nothing but the same old-same old...and diecast selection never gets much better.

I wonder...if someone did open up a diecast specialty store, would they thrive or go under in such towns. One would think with the gate crashers waiting to scope out the new diecast at WM and TRU every day, someone would think this might be a worthwhile endeavor and give it a shot. Of course, we have to ask are their enough gate crashers to make a business work? Is there decent enough mail orders through the net for the guys who are actually doing that? And how much would you be stuck with as peg-warmers and inventory?

Still, it might be nice if someone actually did it around here. We've never had much in terms of specialty outlets or hobby shops.

We have a Hobby Lobby right behind us, they do not carry 1/64 diecast. They do carry some 1/24 & 1/18, as well as some 1/24 diecast kits.

Thanks everyone! It may not be what I wanted to hear, but I was pretty much expecting it. Hey, that's just my kind of luck, LOL. At least it won't be a total loss, I know my Mom will love having another craft/hobby store in town!
