Talk about taking up room!
Built September 1967, (its tagged).
Even at just 1/4 volume this thing rocks! Solid state, no waiting on tubes to warm up.

The record player needs work. We do remember records?
Something else I'm into.

I do, I have a 1985 Harmon Kardon 25 turntable I got when I was in college and all of my LPS mostly 1980s "new wave" rock music (Blasters, Smithereens, XTC, Specials etc.)

Very cool- a real beauty! I too have a record player purchased brand new (Aiwa brand in 1998- yes I miss Aiwa and boycott Sony to this day for buying and eliminating them!).

I'm sure that weighs a ton, too! A little Murphy's oil soap, and it'll look just like new. ^_^

I still have my mid early 80s Panasonic linear tracking turntable and all my records (ZZ Top, Van Halen, etc)...they're in the archive. ;)

I should have cleaned it up first. I was excited. I did the Murphy's soap, thats good stuff!, I need a bottle of Old English blond. This thing really isnt that heavy. The Motorola in the back weighs more... tube design (I have the original owners manual). It fits well here. I listen to old music, talk on rotary telephones. When I first turned it on it was playing old Beatles on the radio... just like Christiene from Stephen Speilberg. It all works, I just need to play with it to wake her up again. The radio sounds awesome, it vibrates the wood floors and sounds clear.

By the way. It has plug in options on the back. Extra speakers and yes... a place for an 8-track tape player... I gotta do it! :D

I'm starting to think we might be biological brothers Swifty. I've had an Aiwa record player for about 10 years that was included with my 3 Cd player and speakers. Got it as a Christmas present. My dad bought it at Circuit City in Terre Haute, Indiana. Got the record player hooked up to a small Phillips single disc CD player/sterio down stairs next to my computer. Listen to some of my parents vinyl collection and I have a few of my own favorite albums too like the Black Keys and the MC5.

Always wondered what the heck happened to the Aiwa brand, they had the best stereo setups for the best price 10+ years ago. My first single CD player stereo was an Aiwa with a dual cassette player. It's still in the my family, 15+ years later.

Cool find Bob. I don't blame ya one bit for listening to music old school style. Nothing beats the longevity nor the sound of vinyl records. So much better than CDs and miles ahead of downloaded rubbish.

Wow- glad to hear I'm not the only Aiwa fan on the forum. My system is a 5 CD, dual cassette, & a turnstyle and that's how it came from the factory. I don't think anyone else was still offering turnstyles new at the tme.

Hello...Mrs. Snow Owl here!

That is a GORGEOUS piece of equipment! I still have all of my old vinyl (45s, too) that I started collecting when I was 11. Snowy's father, before he died, gave me the bounty of his collection as well. While I am trying to put a lot of them onto CD (to save the original vinyl), I still enjoy listening to the originals. Mostly '70s and very early '80s rock, some show tunes and (remember these?) a pretty decent collection of K-Tels! My pride and joy are the original Buckingham Nicks album and "The Legendary Christine Perfect Album" (google them). :D

The original Buckingham Nicks album, as in pre-Fleetwood Mac Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks? Awesome!

Thanks Mrs. Snow Owl. I love this thing! I didnt know Lindsey and Stevie had an album prior to Fleetwood Mac. I thought Mick put it all together. (and I call myself a fan...?). I need to do some searching it seems, info and a copy of that album.

I worked at a record store in late 70's. I still have a huge collection of LP's from late 70's through 80's. Love new wave music. I quit listening to new music after grunge type music came out.
