There was some interest tonight in full size trucks during chat.

I'd vote for full size trucks and SUVs. Wonder what Bob or Dadvball are thinking?

Trucks sound pretty good to me, I'm just hoping I'll have the time. We just got back from 10 days in Florida and brought our 6 & 7 year grandkids with us for the whole month. Between them and the Johnny Jam cars I have to do I'll try to squeeze whichever one is selected.

Alright, we'll go with trucks if there are no objections. Reasonable and realistic ones would be from the mid to late 50s all the way up to the late 90s. I just saw an early 90s Chevy truck run this past weekend and they are quite stout with their full boxed in frames. Start building! Let's get more than two entries for this month.

If I can find a truck in time I will be entering this competition.

I've gotten side-tracked and tide up with a few things and haven't been able to muster up a pick-up for this contest. Maybe next time!

Speaking of next time, it's never too early to start thinking about August's contests...

I'm going to start on my truck entry in the morning. Might be a rushed job but with Fest this month and other stuff, ran out of time.

I'm open to building anything for August. Tossing out ideas, pre '59, compacts, or even an all muscle car build would be cool. I've yet to use an actual muscle car for a derby ride so far.

Well, the '73 Charger is apparently a realistic derby choice, and I've seen the following bangered in the past 5 years:

'65 Mustang
'68 Mustang
'68 Chevelle
'69 GTO
'71 Charger
'71 Mustang (multiple)
'71-'74 AMC Javelin (no less than 4!)
'70s Camaros, Firebirds, & Mustangs
'80s Camaros, Firebirds, & Mustangs
Jensen Interceptor (383 or 440 Mopar power!)
Porsche 924 & 944

And oh yes, in 1987 a Superbird* was raced in an enduro:

*Clone from a GTX parts car, but still!

If we did a muscle car build, there would be no shortage of available and might I add cheap castings to use. Was thinking along the lines of any muscle car from say '64-'72 or so regardless if they make a decent derby car.

Im liking the muscle car idea because like Zach there would be no shortage of available castings to use.

I never got started on a truck for July. I WILL do a muscle car entry. Any muscle car would be fine regardless of year. This should open it up so anyone can do an entry if interested.

Trucks were tough. Of course I'm notorious for working up R8s and Bentleys to derbyize coming up with a realistic truck was actually very tough! i'm actually working up a few muscle cars so I'll see which turns out the best.

Sorry, but I never even got a chance to start a truck. The grandkids (6&7) have been with us since the 3rd and are due to go back to Florida next week. Between them and trying to finish a couple of room I've had not spare time. I will definitely get a muscle car done for this months contest.

Haven't started yet. I figure with no camera there's no point in making an entry I can't enter, LOL!

Mine is sitting on the work table waiting to be stripped this weekend. Hope to get a base coat sprayed on by Sunday and add details. I found my decals that had been missing for about a month so I might add those!
