My Brumos Porsche Collection...In A Custom Case!

It’s been fairly quite the past few months regarding my diecast collection. You know the story... no money, no toy cars! But I feel like it’s Christmas in the middle of summer this week, as I have added three new castings to my garage. Now I have something I can share with my diecast brethren. I know you guys don't do a ton of 1:43 cars, but I though you would enjoy these great castings so I posted here as well.

My first addition is outlined in the Spark Oldsmobile thread, but this story also begins with a casting produced by Spark, the 2009 Daytona 24 winning Brumos Porsche / Riley MK XI. I have been slow to embrace the spec format of the Rolex Grand Am Series Prototypes, preferring the original prototype formulary (pre 2002). Yet I have come to see it as a close form of motor racing and have started to enjoy it a bit more.

This little hot rod really captured my attention and I was very pleased upon it’s arrival. This is Sparks’ casting #43DA09 is replicates the ‘09 Daytona pole and race winning #58 for Brumos, and chassis #29 for the Riley MK XI. The real car has been in service for the Jackson Florida based Brumos since 2007, but this is it’s first win that I can find record of. The car was driven to victory by Darren Law, David Donohue, Buddy Rice and Antonio Garcia.

Cast in the traditional resin format of Spark, this car is adorned with very accurate decals and stunning details. Notice the cable release latches of the door and electrical cut off for example. In fact, to have no opening panels, this casting carries quite a bit of interior detail as well. Overall, a wonderful addition to my collection.

My third car this week places me in the position of having a ready made Brumos collection! From the same Grand Am Racing series comes Minichamps (casting 400 046960) #60 2004 Porsche 996 GT3RS. I know there is a lot of discussion as to the overall shape and scale of Minichamps casting, but I still find this to be one of the most sexy profiles MC has ever released!

This release replicates the car (Chassis #WPOZZZ99Z2S692065) as it raced to a 13th place finish in the Barber Park 250 (October 2004, Birmingham, Alabama). Entered under the Gunnar Racing banner, the car was sponsored and prepared by Brumos Porsche. Driven by Gunnar Jeannette and Marino Franchitti. This same car also ran as the famous Yankee (YES Network) car for Orbit Racing in the ‘02-03 season.

Now the custom case....I realized I had my little sub collection going on and though it would look nice to display as a set. I began with a 1:24 model car display box (available at any model shop) and about one hour latter I had a custom display box. I hope this gives someone else an idea for their own display, if so share those photos. I though this came out very nice.

Last is my complete collection including my two 1:64 Brumos cars produced by Greenlight, including a mini version of the winning #58 Prototype.

Thanks as always for the read, I hope you enjoy viewing my new toys,. I truly enjoy having something new to share with all of you!

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Awesome! You always do a fantastic job with your customs- whether it be a full car, a diorama, or just a base as seen here. Really makes the two cars stand out together!

And your last picture answers the question I was going to ask- has GreenLight released the Brumos car, and lo and behold, there it is! I'd like to add at least one of the GL Grand Am cars to my collection, and this looks to be a nice example.

Thanks for the kind words. Yep, this one is even in a "winners" box for the Daytona race, looks like this in the package...
