There were two Matchbox Z3 toolings. This one was clearly the uncommon one- originally appearing in a special German series sold at BMW dealers. It's slightly larger than the above one, and has a very different windshield.

The somewhat rare first Z4 issue, and the Z8...

I don't have pictures on file of them, but Johnny Lightning also made the Z3 Roadster, with opening hood. Two (maybe more?) versions with wheel variations were released in "Bond Blue" in various James Bond releases, and a yellow version in the Ragtops series.

Majorette also has a Z8 casting, and it too has an opening hood.

Maisto made the Z3 in addition to their Z8 (and a hardtop version of the Z8, using the same casting as the RealToy hardtop). Here are two blue examples of the Z3, with different wheels (these are screaming for headlights!)

The Matchbox there is actually the second tooling (the red one there), before the cast the doors closed. The red one, with the closed doors, was in the line here briefly. I like the other one.
