A sort of a rescue...![]() 8 months old and big already. I told myself I'd never own another dog. She puts the kittens in a big pile, they follow her. Having a bit of a problem with the mom cat though. |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

Awww! Very cute dog, and good to see she's good with the kittens. The mother cat will, eventually (when the kittens are grown) come to love her also. Right now she's just being a protective mother.

That didnt last long. Took a baseball and her plastic bowling pin to let her do "her thing" and play a little. She ran off. Searched but no luck. I'll call the pound tomorrow when I get home from the surgeons office. She was chewing up everything but I miss her.

She is back. I had to go to the pound to pick her up. They were going to euthenizer(sp?) tomorrow. I bailed her out. But on the way I bought a sport dog training collar. If she wants to run I yell her name and push a button... she comes back. Pretty good jolt but not dangerous. I zapped myself with it first. I think her time in jail taught her something. She was SO glad to see me! I got her license and everything while I was there. Sleeping behind me now... she had a bad weekend. |

I am SO glad to hear she's back...pets work their way into our hearts and despite "naughty" behavior, we miss then when they're missing/gone. Thanks for the laugh about shocking yourself. That sounds like something I'd do. Then probably do again. |

YAY! Glad to hear you found her! Definitely get her a collar with her name and your address on it as well. That way if she ever runs off again the pound will have a way of contacting you. On a side note- what kind of horrible pound puts down an animal two days after getting it? That's not enough time for an owner to come and claim it! |

Thats what I thought! My buddy took me there and they had a beautiful small Beagle noted stray, not for adoption. She would lick my finger and never get excited. He tried but they wouldnt let her go. These people are monsters. |

That's disgusting. I wonder what their excuse is for that? |

Sometimes those animal control places are great, other times it seems they just want to keep the population down at any cost. This is a double rescue for you, Bob, but I'm certainly glad it all worked out fine. Once she gets comfy and feels at home for a little while, she probably won't run away. But the thing with taking in any strays is you have to figure the prior owner and whatever they programmed into their brains as being acceptable behavior. If she is used to running wild and free, that's exactly what she'll continue to do until she gets reprogrammed. And at 8 months, that may require a little time and patience on your part. I would watch her carefully for a while and not let her out without supervision. |

Maddie isnt a stray. She just beat up (unintentionally... played rough) with a minpin. They couldnt be in the same house. The beagle was a stray. I didnt get too involved with the beagle as I was kind of busy on my end. I was hoping it was just a quarintene (sp) to be sure she was safe, but after wanting to put my dog down that doesnt seem to fit. That yard protector works great. She started to jump and run in the woods again today, one yell and a push of the button and she politely came back in the house. She should learn not to leave the yard or else even without it in time. I should have had it filmed putting it together and getting it on her. I'm placing the collar on and calming the dog and my buddy (I didnt know) had the remote. You got it... ZAP... CURTIS! STOP THAT!!! While he is laughing hard the whole time. More fun at my expense. The thing works great, trust me.
