Today's car of the day is Real-X's 2000 Subaru Legacy Wagon GT.

Wikipedia

The Subaru Legacy is a mid-size car built by Japanese manufacturer Subaru since 1989, and is available as a sedan or wagon. Part of the original design goals for the Legacy model was to provide Subaru a vehicle in which they could compete in the lucrative North American midsize market against competitors Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Higher performance variants of the Legacy are offered as competitive alternatives to compact executive cars such as the Audi A4, Alfa Romeo 159 and BMW 3 Series. The Legacy also serves as Subaru's flagship car.

In 1995, Subaru created a raised ground clearance, crossover version of the Legacy wagon called the Legacy Outback.

It is unique in its class for offering all wheel drive as a standard feature, and Subaru's traditional boxer engine. The Legacy bears the name Liberty in Australia out of deference for Legacy Australia, a veterans' assistance organization. As of 2008, 3.6 million Legacies have been built since its 1989 introduction.

I had a thing for a little while, randomly picking up a bunch of 1/72 scale cars. They tended to be more detailed and properly scaled with proper manufacturer's wheels/rims. Real-X has been a great line, with great quality and detail for the price point.

Wikipedia

Subaru launched the third generation Japanese and world-market Legacy in June 1998, while the North American model started production in late 1999 as a 2000 model, also known as the BE for sedan models and BH for wagons. European-market and Japanese models ranged from a normally-aspirated 2.0 L flat-4 to the EZ30 flat-6 in the 3.0R model (European and Japanese trim level designation), with the twin turbo that was offered in the previous generation still offered on performance models. In the US market the third generation Legacy went on sale with the 2.5 L EJ251 Engine standard. In 2001 the EZ30, a newly designed 3.0 L H6 was offered in the Outbacks. The engine now met California's LEV emission standard.

Flat roof wagons were no longer manufactured worldwide, and instead the raised roof is used for both the Legacy wagon and Legacy Outback. Daytime running lamps were introduced on US models starting with the 2000 Model Year. Cabin air filters were available starting with 2001 models installed underneath and behind the glove compartment door.

Japanese-spec vehicles with the twin turbo had a choice of manual or semi-automatic transmission called SportShift, that allowed the driver to push the automatic gearshift selector to the left, and then allow the driver to shift the automatic like a manual transmission.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
Now that I don't build 1/72 aircraft any longer, look at all the neat cars being made that I could have displayed next to them, especially modern subjects. This Subaru looks very nice.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
I still can't fathom how we got such beautiful 1/72 cars before we started getting similarly detailed 1/64s. Bigger almost always means more detailed. This is outstanding, but it's too small to fit with the bulk of my collection. Albeit that never stopped me from picking up a 1/72 car. Handy to display next to Matchbox and Tomica full size cars that have been scaled down to 1/76... ;)

Amazing details for 1/72. The color suits this car well.

Support your local demo derby.

Jermaine's pics make these look like 1/1 cars and not scaled down to 72. The red one reposted by Swifty was part of a set that Milezone sold a year or two ago. Real X offers a great product in 1/72.

The toy manufacturer even has the correct "pleiades" logo on the front.

I have a box full of Real-X models. I'm not able to remember if I have this one. I probably do, but these outstanding pictures are making me hope I in fact do.

 I too had not heard of Real X models until a collector in Vancouver, BC offered me some as part of a trade we were doing. My wife had just purchased a Subaru Outback sedan and I thought it would be nice to add some miniature Subie's to my collection - the 1/72nd scale really didn't bother me as it fit in with my collecting interests. The Real X models are very nice - especially the police car versions they have offered over the years.
