Today's car of the day is Maisto's 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Wikipedia

The Chevrolet Monte Carlo is an American-made two-door coupe introduced for model year 1970, and manufactured over six generations through model year 2007.

Another casting from Maisto with the nice Volkswagen esque wheels on it. This one I had to pick up as locally there are a number of 2000 - 2005 Monte Carlos around, particularly in white, black or silver. It's neat to see this as a street version as opposed to the typical stocker style.

Wikipedia

For 2000, Chevrolet not only again called upon GM Motorsports for design inspiration, but also to Monte Carlos of the past. Among the traits carried over from older Monte Carlos were the stylized wheel flares, vertically oriented tail lamps, and a stylized rear bumper. Another classic trait for 2000 was the return of the "Knight" badging, as well as a full gauge cluster, not seen on the Monte Carlo since 1988. In addition, Chevrolet stylist added a slight "hump" on the rear trunk, similar; although smaller than a Lincoln Mark; but, nonetheless, adding a distinct mark that stayed with Monte Carlo until its demise. From the NASCAR circuit came the aerodynamic styling and duck tail spoiler as well as myriad commemorative and special edition packages. These packages would include several pace car editions, and special Dale Earnhardt, Sr. ("Intimidator SS"), Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Tony Stewart editions. The Monte Carlo's 2000 redesign marked it the first car of GM's third-generation W-body cars, even though General Motors third-generation W-body sedans wouldn't arrive until the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix redesign.

Support your local demo derby.

Johnny Lightning did the stock version of this bodystyle and Hot Wheels did the concept car. Still see many of these running around my area as well.

I do too Zach, especailly the one I have in my driveway....lol I have a 2001 Monte Carlo LS(Silver). I also have the red and white version of the Maisto car shown. I have a couple of the JL cars but not many. I think they did a pretty good casting of that car for .79 cents.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I think red and white were the only two colors used so far, at least in the US issues. This is another very good Maisto casting underneath that thick paint and some rough edges. I think they captured the shape better than JL.
