I actually liked the NASCAR schemes on the street cars and bought a few. Would like to have that '57 Chevy Corn Flakes car! That's nice. The chrome and gold fad RC went through, in my opinion, is what killed them off. It pained me to see Johnny Lightning start up with the chrome cars under RC leadership, and wouldn't you know it...the JL line was darn near completely killed off. Coincidence??? Dean |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

I completely agree with the above! And great collection of chase pieces- the only chase chrome RC I found was Bobby Labonte's #18 Interstate Batteries car. I stopped collecting NASCAR diecast (save for vintage pieces) circa 1999-2000 after it became impossible to put together a full field from the same manufacturer. Now I limit myself to Hudson Hornets, Aero Wars ('69-'70) and '80s NASCAR pieces. |

There's a chain of barbecue chicken restaurants in Canada called St. Hubert...and their chicken logo looks so much like our friend there on the Corn Flakes box that I'm wondering if they were separated at birth... |

From some one who has eaten at St. Hubert's a lot, I never noticed that until now.... Very Strange. |

In general the chrome/gold chrome cars have never seemed to be good sellers. It really didn't work for RC and I think it bombed with JL. I didn't mind the NASCAR decos on street cars but the chrome nonsense was just that. With that said, I do have a few in my collection but they were mostly given to me as gifts from my son - one is a gold plated Edsel version - which is nice to have. |
