The Ferrari firm was founded by Enzo Ferrari as an outgrowth of his competition racing operation. During the 1930s Ferrari raced in Alfa-Romeos. This led to production of his own race cars. After WWII road cars were introduced as well. The company emblem was introduced as a prancing stalion and remains today on the presemt day supercars produced by this marquee.Ferrarials introduced submarquees; Dino ( 1966-1980) and the Enzo for a short period of time. In 1970 FIAT began taking over ownership and Ferrari is now a division of FIAT along with Alfa-Romeo and Lancia.

Many manufacturers have produced diecast models in small scale. Probably one of the most detailed series are made by Kyosho in Japan/ China

I thought I'd show some of the lesser known ones rather than the HWs, Kyoshos etc. Not that I have many of them, not being a huge Ferrari fan.

I never knew the Tomica BB512 came with an opening hood! Did they cast it shut for later releases?

I don't have one and I've never seen pics of one with the hood open before. Just took me by surprise to learn that a casting I've known of all this time has a feature I didn't know about. Now I really do need to track one down!
