Were there any real Nomad panels produced?

I'm thinking that's an invention of Mattel's...like the GTO wagon. Looks good, but not exactly factory.

No, the only 55-57 Sedan Deliverys made were based on the 150-210 handyman 2door station wagons, they were the same roof as a window wagon, only the Nomad had the slanted pillars, ribbed roof and ribbed tailgates.

While the Hot Wheels 56 panel looks great No 1/1's were ever produced as such.

I think they look great. Come on Sean! Have you ever heard of custom made cars. They could be real or at least there could be a possibilty of them being made into a 1:1 car.

Albeit I do have an example of the GTO wagon, but I have to draw lines somewhere.

I have far too many Tri-Five Chevrolets in my collection as is. if it's a new bodystyle, it may have my attention. Custom bodies, not so much.

Don't get me wrong, if Hot Wheels did a customized 1960 Edsel panel (something I also think never existed) I would snap it up because I don't have other 1960 Edsel station wagons in my collection (or really, that many Edsels in general). But for a car that has been covered so thoroughly in this scale? There are much better rides to spend my money on. ;) Maybe if they do a really stunning two-tone sans delivery logos it will get my attention.

Support your local demo derby.

I might spring for one of these wagons when they trickle down to the $1 line. The first one reminds me of the recent MB Lesney release of the GMC pickup.

Ah....just think of it as a vandalized Nomad that some kid spray bombed the rear windows over....

Another way to look at it is Mattel cost cutting strategy. Take an existing casting...in this case the 56 Nomad that's been around for a couple of years...modify the tooling *slightly* and block out the rear windows...and call it a Sedan Delivery.

In fairness, the Nomad roof, tailgate and B pillars do look a lot better than the Handyman or standard Sedan Delivery. And this series is pretty cool with all of the old speed part logos. Have they done Hooker Headers yet? Somehow I don't see a mom buying a panel van that says "I love my Hooker....Headers" on the side of it for a ten year old! :D

These were released in premium series back in 2010.
