I bought a '79 Chevy Monte Carlo Petty Stockcar #43 at the club for .25 cents. Its a beater for sure but I would like to know who made it and if possible to see if anybody has a cleaner version of the same casting they would not mind getting rid of. It reads on the bottom RMI copyright 1997 and its made in China. Here is the pic of the car if it helps. Thanks!

Pretty sure that's an Action. I don't recall seeing that particular casting before, but it looks nice!

Thanks Sean! At least I know what Maker to search for now. I would like to get a better example of this casting. I love Monte Carlo especially with this body style.

Me too. I didn't even know this one was out there so now I'll be watching for it too! I don't suppose you could take a rear 3/4 pic for me?

Here you go Sean. Sorry for the delay. I have trouble taking pics of blue cars and it seems Petty Blue is the worst one so far....LOL It took me three tries but I think I got them to look presentable.

All Actions I have seen will be marked Action or RCCA, Action and RCCA's quality was always very nice and pretty accurate. This one seems to lack that quality?

Paul no marking on the base at all?

It has RMI with a copyright date of 1997 on the bottom of the car but no casting number. It does have '79 Monte Carlo written on the bottom too and made in China but that is it. No other identifying marks or traits on the bottom.

I was thinking the same thing- front seems Mirada (or even '74 Chevy Laguna), sides seem more in line with the Magnum. No rear spoiler, either, which I find rather curious. I'm starting to lean against my earlier pick of Action.

77 Monte had those body lines, I think what is missing or very faint is the distinctive bulge of the Monte over the rear wheels. Front would have had stacked rectangle headlites, blocked over in racing trim. So it looks right if a bit plain for a 77 Monte Carlo.

Trust me its a Monte Carlo and Wes is correct on the bulges on the fenders. I use to own a '76 Monte Carlo. I know this body style very well...LOL
