Crash Team Crafty found this old fire chief cars rusting away at the edge of a country farm field. It had a bit of surface rust but the frame thankfully was not too bad. We swapped out the dud wheels for some beefier 5 bolT pattern steel wheels. The interior is mostly stripped out and ready for a 4 point cage to be installed. Also put a v-truck in the trunk plus lifted a jack onto the rear speaker deck so we could lift up the rear portion of the roof for better vision while driving in reverse. We plan on swapping the stock rear coils for leaf springs from an 80s Chevy truck and taking out the worn Ford 5.0 for a small block Chevy 350. Got a big show coming up in a few months so we'll have plenty of time to work on it.

We'll let you guys have a peak on this one in a few weeks when it get's warmer outside and we feel like working on the old girl a bit more. :redneck:

The lights and glass was pretty rough on this LTD. I've got a nice collection of glass and police lights saved for you Ivan, most of them being in good to mint condition. Have many MB Fury, MB Crown Vics, ERTL '80 Pontiacs, and perhaps a Maisto Caprice lights/glass saved in a container for ya. Will send them to you one of these days as I've also got a car for you as well. Should be enough to keep you occupied on a handful of custom police cruisers this summer. B)

Made some progress on the old Ford this past week. We were aided by warmer weather and a swift kick in the rear from our old ladies didn't hurt none either. Got our window bars welded into place and got the trunk lid and doors welded up solid. Our 3/4 ton Chevy truck leaf springs should enable us to go back to back with some roundback wagons. Splurged on $250 set of GM rims and tires so we should have plenty of grip on the slick muddy track. Still need to get a engine and transmission in though. We got our trusty 9" Ford rear axle under the back. Got the holes in the hood cut open for the our headers even though we don't have our engine yet. Decided to mix things up a bit and are trying a new engine builder from Blacklick, Oho. Think he goes by Stangfreak on some boards. . . . Not sure how wise it is for a self proclaimed Ford guy to be building a Chevy derby engine for us, but we'll take a try at it!

Things left to do include:

Install engine/transmission
Install DEC headers
Shifter
4 point cage
add #9 wire from doors to roof
halo bar
gas tank
transmission/cooler

Will let you folks know more as we get the free time and are graced by warm weather.

Later all!
