The blue Chevy truck is a new color to me. Heck about everything you posted is new to me!

Everything shown here is new to me as well. Even the ambulance seems to be different from the ones they've been doing for decades. And the Miura is casting #1001- I've never seen it with a metal base...or #16 racing graphics. :wow:

I saw some of those and wondered about that...almost bit on them myself.

So does this mean Norev and Yatming had some tie-in to each other at some point?

At some point Norev (like Road Champs) offered Yat Mings in their own packaging. Road Champs, however, did it right when they started as a company and phased them out as they got their own tooling up and running. Norev had a full line of castings by the point they did this, so my guess is it was a cost-cutting measure. Easy way of getting a whole bunch of new castings into the line without pauing to tool up a bunch of new cars. The Norev line ended not long after.

Sean, i think the amb looks different because it has a metal univ.base and is made in hk..the other amb i have is a china casting.and it does seem different but i can't explain why.
did you notice on the 3 vans that the tampos are the same for all 3.
they just changed the colors.

Wes, i only bit on these because he cut the price in 1/2.and the shipping was very good.

another thought.i was told that these where issued in 1981.isnt that around the time yat ming started up?and this was around the time road champs was using yats.so i think these might be some of the first yats issued, but under different brand names.
i am starting to think yat ming, like a generic car parts manufacturer, was making cars and showing on the bases what the buyer wanted.ie: just an origin,no name of the model,no in house casting number and so on.

i have come to agree with Sean's statement:that it would be impossible to get all the
issues of even one yat ming casting.

on the positive side there is a chance the missing 1000s castings might show up in
the off brands packages.

i have rambled on enough..whats that Sue,time for my meds.......

Dan - Yatming was started around 1970 in HK. Dave and Kimmo's book goes into decent detail on the company as a whole. No less than perhaps half a dozen or more companies sold Yatmings under their own brand.

Zach's right on that- they started right around the same time as Playart and Zylmex and there were some castings shared between the three (as in Yat Ming & Zylmex and Yat Ming & Playart....I am unaware of any sharing between Zylmex & Playart though that doesn't mean it didn't happen!). All of them were a response to Hot Wheels & Topper and jumped on the diecast bandwagon right at the time those two brands were making a big splash.

The Lambo deco is very nice! And the splash tampos on the three vans is a design I've never seen before! Very interesting purchases!
