I thought it might be time for another one of these.

So - putting them next to each other one thing is pretty obvious - the MB is a lot larger - it is rated at 1/61 versus the Tomica's 1/68 scale. Something in the middle would have been nice, like, say 1/64? :rolleyes:

Viewed from the front, it is immediately apparent that the MB has the better detail, mainly due to more and better tampos:

'Round the back, the story is much the same really:

The only point the Tomica scores over the MB is the opening rear hatch - but the pay off there are the blacked out windows;

The orange rims are a matter of taste, but they look good to me.

Overall, an easy win for the MB. Which makes MB's new direction even more of a shame, now that we know how good they can be, if only they want to!

I picked up the silver version of the MB Honda Civic several months back at a CVS. I normally don't buy cars there because the mark up on them is a little much but I was really impressed on the level of detail that they did on that car. I think MB could be a real competitor to JL and GL if they would be constant on their level of quality and detail.

LOL!

And I do agree, wholeheartedly, on all points. They both should be 1/64 exactly, and the Matchbox is the better casting of the two. However, it's a lot easier to get the details and the tampos onto the much larger casting than it is the smaller one. I'd call it a draw (because of the Tomica's opening hatch).... if it didn't have blacked out windows.

Thanks for the comp DCD...they both look good but I agree with all points about the MBX. And being orange is a bonus since I love that color.

Well, the Honda Civic Type R is not much of a looker in it's own. I mean, have you seen the back of it? It's shaped like an egg!

I believe that the Matchbox versions wins here, mainly because of the casting detail and wheels.

When will Tomica stop living in the past and make new wheels?

I like the MB one better, although the tomy one isn't bad.
