I love the '67 / '68 Cougar. Might be my favorite 60's muscle car. But then the '69, I really really don't like. The white JL is a stunning replica. It looks so right. And the pictures look really good. |

First generation Cougar was def. the best in my opinion. It was near luxury and great performance when optioned right. Everything after that to me was just a land yacht. |

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!

Looks great. I'd like to lower the body a bit with slightly smaller wheels. Note that JL got the Cougar rectangle on the grille correct (left side). Hot Wheels has a circle. |

Daniel, great pictures of a great JL casting. This casting debuted in 2000. Some added information: Playing Mantis produced two white coloured 1967 Mercury Cougar castings. The one that you have illustrated is a 1967 model year Cougar from Ad Rods release 3. This one came with wire wheels and thin-line white wall tires: ![]() The other one from Playing Mantis was also a 1967 Cougar with black tires and Cragar SS wheels: ![]() From Muscle Car 4 release 1 DIRECT (this was a mail-in promo.) Images from JLCollector.com. Thanks Wyatt. I have both versions of this casting in my collection. It is a beauty. Cheers. Cobra |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

This is in my opinion the best Cougar casting in JL's lineup. I love it! I just wish they'd tool up some more kitties- the '77-'79 and '83-'86 Cougars are just screaming to be done! |

See other post regarding White cars........ I would have to at least paint the roof green or red or some other colour..... |

James, if it is any consolation...a black vinyl roof was available as a (popular) option. I'm with the guys here that like the first Cougars, 67-68, and I can find it in my heart for a 69 as well...but after that, they lost me...too big, too low, too slow, too...Mercury. I had a 71 Mercury land barge (Monterrey), and that thing was the worst pile of junk I ever owned. Still love Fords, still love Lincolns, but Mercury engineering left a great deal to be desired. Better to swap out Ford internals where possible, at least for this era of automobiles. Oh, and James...at least it isn't yellow! Edited by juantoo3, Dec 18 2011, 09:23 AM.
