Not sure if these have hit the US and overseas, but these appeared in Canada. (Thanks to my local UPS guy for the tip on these.)

How brilliant is it to use a UV sensitive coating, to make for a "painted" effect on a car?

Hot Wheels Light Speeders "Paint with the power of light!" (~$7.99 CAD/ea)

Here are the varieties shown on the back.

DLMed set. It comes with the UV light, stencils, and the vehicle.

Posted Image

Blank truck! (It's a really dark metallic green, but it really does look black in hand anyways.)

Posted Image

A UV light that is included, which is the same light you use to check for counterfeit paper money.

Posted Image

The effect directly on the truck, and with the included stencils.

The price was steep, but this has play value!

Anyone else find these yet?

Neat, but gimmicky. Will probably be peg warmers like the recent color changer HWs. Play value yes, but at the end of the day I think most kids and adult kids like racing their cars around and crashing them not painting them with a light.

Support your local demo derby.

These have not shown up around here. I'd agree with Ryan, pricey peg warmers.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I dunno, I think I'll be a sucker for at least one of these!! I'm still a kid at heart and always curious about gimmicks on toys. I think that Hiway Hauler would be a lot of fun with my adult imagination and belongs in my collection!!

I'm in agreement with Ryan & Zach. The first release or two will sell well until the novelty wears off and the rest get clearanced. I think it's pretty neat, personally, but way more than I'm willing to pay for it.

Back in my day we painted our cars the old fashioned way, with markers or even actual paint! ;)

It's just a new twist on the color changer idea...and one more attempt to upsell a dollar car to what? 5-6 bucks or more? 'Tis the season, and all that!

Although in all likelihood the versions of these castings will be among the more rare and hard to find in coming years...

Wes got that right! Like anything gimmicky and pricey, these kind of releases get torn apart by the kiddies and won't be collected by the adults. So few will survive in original packaging or complete if opened. So years later?? Helllloooooo scalpers and ebay!

I did get the hauler and I do like it, it's a hauler after all. Will have to let the little ones have a go at to see what they think of it.

Let us know what they think- it looks like it's got a lot of play value. Hopefully they agree!
