Is this the same basic casting used for a normal Fire truck released in red? I think I had one left over from my childhood collection.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Yes it is. There was a yellow one too. I have all three! The casting now has a giant motor sticking out of the hood but it's still around.

There are many variations on this casting - lots of fire dept red and yellow and some odd ones thrown in - as noted it has now been "ruined" by Hot Wheels with an oversized engine coming out of it.

A lot of those are set cars and 5 pack exclusives, not available in single blister!

I do believe that is the most comprehensive gathering of that casting I have ever seen!
