Tri Cevvy 454-01 thru 04
Started on this set the day it came out. Had them all in my collection in no time except one. Took over a year to track it down. Finally found it on ebay with two more form this series. The r2 red and white 55 convertible top up. These are my favorites.

Beautiful, I still see a few of these I hope to find. They are somewhat hard to find since the Tri-5 fans typically do not like to part with the collections they've massed whether JL, HWs, Matchbox etc

I like the '55s and the '57s but I have never been a big fan of the '56 by JL. Now HWs makes real good casting of the '56 but it lacks the details of the JL versions.

This was one of the truly great series produced by Playing Mantis.
It has always been a favourite.
I have all of them in my collection.
Some random pictures.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
I picked up a few of these cars, in particular I had to get two of the light blue '56 convertible. One for my own collection, and one for a librarian I know. Many years ago my Mom was chatting with her and mentioned how much I love cars...I don't know how one thing led to another but I found myself sketching a '56 Chevy ragtop for her on canvas. Mom then painted it and presented it to her. Apparently the real car had been important in her life some years earlier. The JL is a perfect match. So I made sure she got one!

Support your local demo derby.

The cream and black colored Nomad in the last pic Jeff posted is a cool color scheme.

Gotta give JL props where credit is due. Their 55 Nomad is so far above HW it's not funny. And even the 56, considering other makers covered the 55 and 57 (I even had a 57 Nomad at one time, I think by Summer)...but nobody until JL made the 56. To top it off, that 56 was one of their early club exclusive cars, as well as quite a few variations done for Steadly Quikwheels (Mike Stead). As much as I like the 55 (it is my favorite of the three), the front clip on the 56 is killah! So even if the 56 is my least favorite of the tri5 Chevys, it is still better than a whole lotta stuff by other guys, and even other Chevys. And the fact that JL used their early 56 for promo and club special editions, is why I like that casting particularly.

Image courtesy of JLCollector.com. Thanks Wyatt.

This is my favourite of the 567 Chevies.
Convertible with a wonderful colour scheme and a continental kit on the rear.
This is the only JL '567 Chevy with a continental kit.
I suspect that Hot Rod Al was originally responsible for this casting.
If that is the case, then it is a lasting legacy to his genius.
