Below you will find a noteworthy post from Swifty at 1:04 AM this morning.
I think that it should be posted here in the Johnny Lightning forum for everyone to read.
I must admit that I am one of the guilty offenders.
Swifty, sorry that I may have crossed the line.
I have sent you a message regarding this very subject.
Here is that message posted by Swifty:

It's more than just an Aretha Franklin song.

There have been multiple threads by three different members in the last two weeks showcasing promo cars from other forums. They have no place on Swifty's Garage.

I don't expect to see the Swifty's Garage promo cars posted on other boards. Yes, we've done a set of promo cars (they've sold out) and we will likely do it again in the future. They belong on Swifty's Garage and only on Swifty's Garage. I respect the other forums enough not to post our cars over there. Likewise, I ask that other forums' cars not be posted here.

There is an exception to this rule, and that is if a diecast manufacturer actually rolled it out of the factory for a retail release. The Johnny Lightning JL Talk cars- if they're new and upcoming, I want to know about them. Maisto did some Joe's Diecast Shack cars- again, these are welcome to be posted here because they were available at retail. If Joe's or JL Talk do promos though, those cars shouldn't be posted here.

But any car that you need to be a member of a specific other forum to get, something they may use as a fundraiser (such as on a prominent Matchbox site), or even something given out as a token of gratitude by the site's moderator or owner (such as the Hobby Talk cars and the 1 of 60 JL Talk cars) really don't belong discussed outside of their respective forums. Oh, and for the record, I have both Hobby Talk cars and the ultra limited JL Talk car. And I'm quite happy to have them (and I thank Bobby Williams for all of them). But they don't really have a place to be discussed on this forum.

It's common courtesy and should be common sense.

Interesting point. I haven't displayed my cars on any site as up close individual pics--even those they came from. But I might have if it seemed to be a fitting post that was dedicated to such a topic. I haven't really given a lot of thought to the subject. Although the HT cars are up on my wall and were included in my pics of my display cases and car wall. Actually my Garage cars are there as well--in the back of a police car hauler, which were also showed at HT. Hopefully this didn't come accross as a disrespectful choice on either site within the context of my display, which they were all depicted.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
There's a balance here, and I'm sure we'll be able to find it. For example, I know I wouldn't have a problem seeing another forum's cars mixed in with your displays, or even mixed in with a number of similar castings (like a bunch of Cobras that just happens to include the HT Cobra). I don't think it would be an issue on other boards, but I don't make those calls.

It only becomes a problem when it's advertising/promoting the other forum. At least that's where I'm drawing the line. For example, the Swifty's Garage promo Supras from this year. This was a Color Comp run made specifically for the forum, ordered by me. I wouldn't expect to see a thread dedicated to them posted on JL Talk (well, obviously because they're not JLs, but I'm picking this board as an example for a reason) out of my respect for Bobby and Wyatt and the community they've built. I consider JL Talk to be our sister board and we've always had a very good relationship with them. Hence why I use them as an example.

Now, let's say Tom Z. runs the Ford tow truck with Swifty's Garage logos in an upcoming release of 2.0 (no, nothing like this in the plans- as much as I'd like it to be this is not a sneak preview, but a what-if scenario). It's going to end up posted on all of the other major forums as the online dealers get them in stock and showcase the latest releases on the boards. That's to be expected, and I really doubt that's going to be a problem (likewise, if there's a new JL Talk car in Forever 64 release 27 I'd expect to see it shown here). But that key is that it's an official release from the manufacturer- not a fundraiser car, a promotional car, or a thank you car.

It really is a fine line, so if anyone has any particular questions feel free to send me a private message and I'll be happy to approve or deny it in advance.

So bottom lining it, the line is crossed if it comes under the context of "Look what I got over there," sort of rubbing one boards nose in another boards promotion--so to speak. Or, even if that isn't the members intention who posted, it might come across as an "unofficial" advertisement in the form of a non-commercially available promo piece if it's doing a solo act in the pictures.

Thanks for the clarification...to be honest I hadn't given it any thought, but I can see what you're saying.
