Gaah, I wish they would stop with the NASCAR themed THs. As they are NASCAR themed (even fake cars) I want them big time, but I also won't pay scalper prices for them either! And I can't ever find them under $20.

Very nice! The most I've ever seen at once was eight, Walmart bin of death.... and of course they were Vultures so pretty much worthless. :P

Are these cars sought after as much as a white lightning? What is the count on these?

For some reason, yes they're almost as sought after as White Lightnings and some can go for astronomical prices. If you want a 1995 Treasure Hunt, be ready to fork out cash. Which is ridiculous because they were limited to 10,000 pieces that year. 25,000 for 1996....and Mattel refuses to admit how many they've cranked out each year since.

White Lightnings number anywhere from 25 to 200 total cars depending on the production run. And yet very few of them command insane prices. It's all about desirability, and Hot Wheels has a built-in collecting base ready to buy anything they produce.

I've never found a TH in the wild. Maybe I will at some point since I moved, but my old diecast stomping grounds seemed to have few collectors that seemed friendly, and that not many at all in the diecast isles at any given time. However, the early morning and late night guys (mostly who never heard of any of the message boards I mentioned) somehow instinctively knew every rarity of every diecast. Mostly they were HWs nuts. And mostly I think they were giving me a load of BS any time I spoke with them in order to protect their supposedly secret knowlege. Never made friends with any of them, and can't really say I would've wanted to. Very wierd and self inclusive--at least most of the locals I met. But that's sort of how most folks were raised back around my home town. Stephen King could've written about that place.

DS, it's funny you say that. There's a local swap meet that takes place about 4 times a year here. It's always the same people, and always the same cars. Mostly the local HW scalpers and never got a good or friendly vibe, so i stopped going.
