Time to bring in some new products for the new year...maybe even some Matchbox cars!

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
About time we see some new Matchboxes on the pegs!

On a side note, what is the brown coupe? I'm guessing a Jaguar of some sort but I don't recognize the casting or the real car. Thanks in advance!

The brown car is the Regular Wheel #53-A - Aston Martin - it is a used one I picked up as a filler and has been repainted.

I take it this casting must be hard to find? I'm no expert on Regular Wheels but I really don't recall seeing one before!

53A Aston Martin DB2/4. Originally issued in pale green metallic, with gray metal wheels. In time, it went to a medium red metallic, with black plastic wheels- at a time when gray and silver predominated. Never had windows. 1958-1963.

Leslie Smith had purchased this Aston for himself, as the company grew very quickly. He had originally commissioned the color to be yellow. However, it had been reported that a yellow DB2/4 had been seen parked in front of various high rolling London gambling clubs, and not wanting to be associated with this activity, Mr. Smith had his car resprayed in the red that 53A would eventually appear in. This anecdote appeared in the 40-year book.

53A was replaced, of course, by 53B-the Mercedes-Benz 220 SE, in 1963.
