Here's two more I found while on holiday - I don't think they were shown here before (pardon me if I'm wrong)

Same here! Even my Vintage racing source at the club could not get this particular case that these cars came in. I would love to get both when the chance arrives. I am in the same boat you are in Dean.

Patrick, you did good! Love the pics too!

:toy: Oh...the temptations in diecast. :D There was a time when I would have wanted both of these in my collection - truly like those old vintage AMX's - and can never go wrong with a Richard Petty car. But reality in life led to a big change in collecting (as you have seen in my various sale posts) and I have set limits on the areas I will continue to collect in - and race cars is not one of them which means more for you guys. I did see the Petty car in a big box store the other day - it is a nice looking casting and I commend Hot Wheels for this nice series of vintage racing models.

Support your local demo derby.

Is the Javelin an older casting from HWs or new?

where's the snow..
Not much of a chance of snow in summer here...

But these cars didn't make it to the pegs of the regular outlets here either - I just found them by chance in a hobby and toy store in a country town close to our holiday destination. How did they get them? No idea...

Same here, Dean. My '74 Javelin was my "airport car" when I lived in Yuma and worked at LAX. I've got to have this model!

I figure the Javelin would be a car of the year contender for 2011 or is it that new, to be one of the 2012 nominees

The Javelin in GL form is the one that is a Stunner to me, I passed on the HW version and the Petty car is a Road Runner Plymouth. Nice pics and congrats.......

I mean, the fact that is says "Plymouth" might have alerted a sharper mind than mine...

Thanks for fixing it.

My '74 Javelin was my "airport car" when I lived in Yuma and worked at LAX. I've got to have this model!
Should I be interpreting that as 'a commuter car from Yuma, to LAX'?
Or 'airport car' in that it sat at the Yuma airport and you flew to LAX?

Whether by car or by plane, that is one wicked commute. How often did you have to do that?

For 18 months while I was working in Ventura, I would drive down to Yuma once, twice, or sometimes three times a month, during my days off...to visit one of the friendly locals I took a liking to. So I am aware of the drive time. Depending on how new that '74 Javelin was at the time, if you drove, your commute may have been far worse. I'm guessing 55mph speed limits, and an old two-lane SR-86 with limited passing zones, which was nicknamed "Blood Alley."

The Mad Documenter!
Both of these are must-haves. This is the second time HW has done the 70 RR Petty used in 70, but the first time Donohue's Javelin has been done, as far as I am aware. I just got my first copy of the HW Javelin, albeit in street trim, in December, and I think it's one of the most accurate Hot Wheels toolings of the past decade.

It was new for this release. See the air ducts molded in around the front A pillars. I also choose the GL version for my collection (though I modified that one as well) but I still commend HW for replicating this great race car. Mark Donohue is truly one of my greatest racing heroes ever.
