New casting? Quick! Take it apart!

Darn! I've got so many winged Mopars that I no longer can remember what I don't have. I'm sure this is one of the "don'ts." I missed a number of early JL birds because I just never saw them in stores. |

That does seem to be one of the more uncommon colors on this model. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if I've got one or not...and they're buried so checking isn't an option just now. This was one of my favorite castings from this series. |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

This was my favorite casting from Muscle Cars USA 1 also. I remember seeing them at Hills for the first time and my eyes just lit up. Superbird! Nova! Boss 302! I eventually picked up one of just about every casting (the 442 never came home with me- I had the Hot Wheels and that was a better looking model in my opinion). But the Superbird and Boss I had multiples of. This isn't one of the colors I have for this casting though. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! |

Interesting to look back. I remember the days of the simple coloring jobs that I assume was supposed to harken us back to the diecast days of the 60's...at least that's what they always reminded me of. I had a lot of diecast as a kid that had that glistening tone that always makes me think of a toppers-like paint job...sort of. |

The Mad Documenter!
|
It may be early and slightly crude...and painted in what appears very close to a factory GM color...but it's still great! Any wingcar is great...in my book, anyway! |

It's easy now to forget that these were intended for use with the Johnny flat tracks. There is a tie to the Speed Rebels as well... ![]() ![]() ![]() A comparison of the Speed Rebels Wing Thing with the early JL Muscle Superbird ![]() I got in a couple of new Speed Rebels last week, including this orange with black interior...turns out it is loose from the 5 pack, but still nice to have. ![]() And a handful of winged warriors lined up...
