This set is from the early 90's. Have 11 of the 12. Came with a set of collector cards. Missing the jaguar.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Nice set! But I think alll of these cars were also issued in regular Matchbox blisterpacks. I know I've got all of them and I don't recall any of them coming in a special series (though my memory isn't what it used to be!).

Correct. Part of what made the Car And Driver photo card series a slow seller, was the fact that Matchbox used vehicles that had already been available in the exact same schemes. If you find yourself a nice example of the standard release Jaguar XJ6 in burgundy, that was the one also included in the Car And Driver set, and no one would ever know the difference, since they are DLMed.

I would agree with some of the earlier comments - Matchbox could have had a neat set here with the tie in to Car and Driver but like many I saw no need to spend the extra $$ just to get the added cards - it would have made more sense to have issued cars in unique colors to the set - better tempting us then to buy them.
