New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I have several of these because I like to collect Mustangs, I don't like the casting that much, especially the blunt nose and lack of the characteristic rounded and bulged hood. JL just did not do the Mustang very well.

I got that from my friend Cadillac 59 and it was a long time ago and I think he gave it to me for nothing. It is no doubt an excellent piece that is scarce.

This post makes me think of the story my stepgrandfather told me many times as a kid. He used to tease, that he got my stepfather a job at a Ford dealership cleaning up crap left behind from Mustangs, Thunderbirds, Broncos and Cougars.

Ford was all about those animal names lol Bobcat and Lynx as well.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
I miss all those other animal names. We've still got the Mustang and Impala...but the rest are all long since gone. I'm sick and tired of lame alpha-numeric names like G8 and MKT. Give me Bonneville and Continental, thank you very much!

I think with the large car companies focusing on global cars, that's a main reason unique names have been ditched. Between the alpha names and made up ones . . . Sentra, Elantra, Camry I'm looking at you . . . we've lost a great deal of character.

Yes I remember names that went over well in one country but meant some thing else that was not good in another language "NOVA" I think meant no go in another language....not a good name for a car.

Nova in Spanish literally translated to 'No go.' Not a great way to market a car.

Anything newish comes to mind with fantasy names. Alero was one GM caught a lot of heat for. One of my personal favorite car names has always been Avanti which means 'move forward'. Studebaker really came out of no where with the Avanti, at the time there was really nothing else like it on this side of the ocean unless you count the coupe Corvettes of the same vintage, but those are only 2 seaters.

I think what it really boils down to in the here and now from GM anyway is shedding the past. Though Chrysler seems to be holding on to the past and rightly so with the names they have chosen to engrain again in the public's mind. Ford is doing the same thing except in the Lincoln line wth names like MKX, MKZ, MKT to appeal to younger buyers Lincoln so desperately needs.

They're doing so with limited success to this 'younger buyer'. I have not a clue what any of the current Lincoln models look like based on their names. Until I saw a large suv/minivan like Lincoln i had no clue they even sold such an thing. That's the problem with Lincoln, they're rebadged Fords with forgettable names.
