Never seen that one before. The truck is pure fantasy, but the test car is legit- and some of the regular paint schemes are different than the basic issues. This one is- the real car, and the regular issue, have black wheels. (The test car should have a gray interior, too)

Matchbox made a whole series of these, don't know how many in the series, but among others Dale Earnhardt is represented (as if that is a surprise?). I'm pretty sure these predate Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart though.

Racing Champions started in '89. These were in '93/'94.

Sweet.

I like the haulers, but can't bring myself to destroy good ones, and playworn ones are not easy to find.

The one custom hauler I've done used to be Dr. Pepper livery, I don't know who the driver is, never had the cars. Come to think of it, never seen one in the package.

There was no Dr. Pepper NASCAR car until 1998, the year after Matchbox lost the NASCAR license.

They also did these in 1991. I have a Derrike Cope and Ken Schrader set, plus the JD McDuffie memorial set.

The McDuffie set's hauler is actually legit- not a fantasy- he used a hauler like that for many years, including in 77, which is the year that one of the cars in the set is from.

Of these shown above I only have Hamilton, Allison and Kulwicki sets. I have the two Earnhardt cars, but not the hauler as I got them both loose from seperate sources.

It must have been from a non-NASCAR issue. All I can figure?

This is correct- it was issued in a Convoy pack like this and if memory serves me it had the Baja version of Holden Ute labeled as an "El Camino" and either the Laguna stocker or the Chevy Van.

That makes sense...I've got a playworn Holden Ruff Trek in 7up livery, which I think is the same as the stocker, and I've seen the three pack with the carrier before. Never saw the three pack or anything at all other than the carrier with Dr. Pepper livery.
