I agree *if* they stay with the cars that look like cars, and not shaved bars of soap. Not sure where the cutoff would be, but it is somewhere around the mid 80s.

In my opinion.

What helped this line was that they did cars of well remembered drivers.

Just using the existing castings there are tons of drivers that could be done. JL also had contemporary '97 stockers of the Thunderbird, Grand Prix, and Monte Carlo but I think all of them were modified into generics later on due to licensing issues.

Muscle Car
This was a great series from JL - one that I had hoped they would have continued as there was and still is plenty of room for vintage NASCAR models. Tehy are from a time when stock cars looked like the cars in the dealerships and most of the drivers were because they were gifted drivers and many had worked their way up through the ranks or honed their skills on dirt tracks, etc. They were not there because of some corporate sponsorship that put them in a car whether they could actually drive or not. At one time I had the full set of these but many of you have seen them posted in the sale forums here and on other boards as I have made the move to downsize my collection. As I have done this I am glad that a number of collectors have been able to complete or get close to having them all.

The Mad Documenter!
I finally completed my set last year. The Pete Hamilton Superbird was the last one I needed. The David Pearson Fairlane is one of the tougher ones to find as well. The most common is the Buddy Baker 1984 Thunderbird.

Rumor has it that the line was ended not because of poor sales but because JL was ticked off that they were not given the license for modern NASCAR issues...after they had tooled up bodies for all three brands in Cup and Busch at the time. But...that's just rumor.

Cale was inducted into the NASCAR Hall Of Fame this weekend.
I watched the ceremonies on Speed.

Cheers. Cobra

That wouldn't surprise me. But I do remember these being clearanced out at KB and Toy Liquidators though. So it may be a little of column A and a little of column B.
