Still no crusher (may make this a yard where cars go out to large regional scrapyards like Schnitzer in Portland, on an M2 car hauler and 60s A100-style Dodge cabover tractor), but:

Made "The Oasis", a crude structure made of junk, that junkyard workers can take cover from sun or rain, have garage band jam sessions on a mobile home roof "stage", grill, or do other stuff in, on breaks or off-shift

'40 Caddy project car gets catapult ready for the weekend's Halloween Festival so it can throw pumpkins at the totaled Chevy van behind the catapult.

Caddy being driven to the fenceline in hopes of finding a new owner:
Posted Image

Needs tires, shocks, brake linings, muffler, steering box, maybe a little bit of wiring... :P
Posted Image

The yard had to be made so Will Darnell could drive all around it wasting gas with the 500ci V8 instead of using the Honda Vamos junkyard buggy, S10 and Datsun 620 errand trucks or forklift, let alone *walk*.
Posted Image

View in on an average day. Looks like Will Darnell is gonna enter the Monterey or Steamboat Springs vintage races with emphysema and a severe heart condition.

Will Darnell's $50,000 :toy:

Received a Walthers Cornerstone warehouse as a belated gift, and resurrected my junkyard. Getting some PiPs from Colin (W_Body_Geek), have a Breaking Bad Fleetwood Bounder on order, and am gonna make some wrecks, burnouts, homemade PiPs and cut-up cars out of Zylmex Dynawheels, Maistos, Summers, Tai Cheongs, early Welly, Yat Mings, etc., plus I need to get assorted other junk from the train section of the hobby shop along with more vegetation, cattle fencing and a 1/64 compatible pit bull, Rottweiler, Doberman, mastiff or German Shepherd junkyard dog figure, and work on the signage. So not nearly finished

I miss wandering around salvage/junk yards. Drove by one yesterday outside of Mandan, ND which brought back old memories much like your diorama does. Thanks Chris.

Gonna get this vintage Ertl playset that I have on hold at my diecast store this weekend, am gonna build it and outfit the open bay with an M2 4-point lift, assorted junker cars and parts, Greenlight 1/64 tools, HO-scale diorama stuff, and eventually some stuff from Stangfreak's eBay store or website, will be combining this with a small papercraft building I have on hand and a good-size chunk of my current layout will be my new junkyard. Updates available as they come. I already have a no-name 1949 Buick Roadmaster coming from Hobie-wan that is playworn and will be added to my yard

Definitely. The bus was traded to Gunn (longtime member here who doesn't post much anymore) for a couple of JL Boogie Vans years ago

Building new & better. Gonna PM Gunn with instructions on how to build a crusher (I know someone who can build me one for free given directions for it, but it'll be a John Deere-powered crusher instead of Caterpillar like Swifty's)

Dedicated one of a couple of coffee tables here to my new junkyard dio...

For one, got this building set (shed will be placed sideways along wall, lean-to next to it to hold "rebuildable salvage" (JL PiPs, Greenlight rusty Impala, possible "unclaimed tow-ins" and Jada 4Sales), and that area used as combination garage, tow yard & scrapyard. Should be here the 17th of October.

Posted Image

Also gonna build a small guardshack and scrap scale to be built onto the shed, and possibly a "sanctuary" like I've seen in high-desert junkyard pics that would have a cooler, furniture, a radio & whatnot, Goodyear trailer is going away, and I'm replacing the bulky Bachmann house trailer with a Road Champs Winnebago or (ideally, and once it comes out) a Greenlight Breaking Bad RV, and am gonna get a Greenlight modern truck with flatbed trailer soon too. Lastly, gonna upgrade to an Ertl Collect & Play Toyota forklift over the junker HW Caterpillar forklift in these pics. Once buildings come, car placement and decision on what to "specialize in" and what to put in the tow yard & scrappage area will be done

Sign (some graffiti airbrushed out)
Posted Image

Threatening sign due to high school kids incessantly tagging the sign and fence, tinfoil-hatter graffiti & handbills, and parts & metal theft, postman arrives:
Posted Image

Overcrowding. HO-scale guard shack, most cars and Goodyear trailer are going bye-bye
Posted Image

Owners' humble abode at the edge, lots of cars as "yard art" (Dauphine and Cutlass are only ones roadworthy, Reliant Regal has seized engine, 4CV hasn't run in almost 40 years, Volksrod was declared a "dangerous vehicle" by police). Listing trailer to be corrected when buildings arrive.
Posted Image

Lost in a sea of anarchy. Many cars to be pruned out and forklift to be upgraded to Tomy or Ertl late-model Toyota
Posted Image

Guard shack. Too small and to be upgraded with a scrap scale added too
Posted Image

Junker VW Rabbit brought in on a rollback (still don't know marque? Gonna guess Bering but not sure?), beat-up Chevy G20 errand/delivery van also visible (Darnell's has exclusive contracts for rebuilt parts & engines and other parts for out of date/hard-to-find cars for a number of shops in town)
Posted Image

More work to be done. Especially landscaping that I can lose a few cars in trees & shrubbery, have big rocks, etc.

reliant regal; is it tomber from cars2
