The theme of this junkyard is "natural reclamation". Here are a few pictures of my outdoor yard from the past few weeks:

Little bit o' pyro goin' on there...

this one stands out to me...got some pretty realistic wreckage there, the stack of lumber is a good addition, now if you can get the weeds more in scale, you would have an out of the ballpark home run! Definitely worth nominating for PotM.

Original and credible looking. Excellent. Was it done for any reason you had broken some cars like I do trying to make them better? Or both you like a cool diorama and they were the victims?

Both! I've "aged" some cars pretty realistically this way, and most of the ones out there are cars I'm not immediately using for custom work or restoration.

Thanks for the nomination!

Unfortunately, unless you're keeping up a bonsai garden, there's no good way to keep weeds in scale!
(And those strips of lumber are actually matchsticks. :D )

It would take getting creative, I'll admit, but that's something I see with scale railroads and such is they all build flat. Real life isn't flat...not in Florida and not even in Kansas. Unless you're at Bonneville, and then its all white. Anyway, the idea is fantastic, I was merely thinking if you could build a dio board with some grade to it, (just thinking in print here) maybe using some plaster or something, sorta sink the car into the muck just a bit before it sets, add some railroad scale "weeds" (or one of my favorites is seeing a 20 year old tree grow up through the engine compartment) and stuff like the lumber laying around, you would have one heck of a woods find junk heap. An excellent choice for dio!

Man-oh-man that's awesome!! I saw a couple that made me cringe, yet the realism makes this a great display.

Forgive me for picking on you, but this pic has so much potential *conceptually*, but with the oversize weeds it gets lost in translation.

You've got an excellent, excellent idea, and I want to encourage it. I almost like this one too, except there are no trees that look quite like that. If you could find a way to half-cover an old wreck in scale underbrush, you would have a real winner.

I like it! That is awesome ideal! Talking about thinking outside the box, you did it literally....lol I like the 2 pickups that Wes shown the best too. Now some critism, there are too many Firebirds in that junk yard. If you want it to be more realistic, start putting more Mustangs and Escorts in there. They pratically the same car anyways..... :bleh:

I need to go ahead and bring my tow truck and salvage those poor Birds.

Great Job!!!

I do see what you're getting at.

I put those models there a few weeks ago, and as you can see, the weeds have actually grown over them. It looked more realistic when there were no weeds; if I find any pictures of the "yard" at that time, I'll upload them.

No one ever said this junkyard was on planet earth. This photo is from the latest mars prob, showing diecast collectors really did live there once :P

Seriously, somee excellent shots, and a good eye.

Thanks!

I think this is a much better shot of the Stude, without the Martian weeds, but in the same position.

My first thought was another planet too. With a giant Venus Flytrap protecting its prise. Would make part salvage a bit dangerous :woot:

Definitely on another planet. Or a glimpse into life after people with mutant cloverleaves the size of palm fronds...
