That's one rotten Mustang. :( Looks like it's mostly surface rust though....

Interior was mostly worm chow tho. It looks like a GT judging from the hood (2 air intakes up front)

That pontiac does not look to bad. Not bad enough to be in a junk yard..

The Pontiac is pretty good... I saw an Opel GT shell today that looked OK, but its real value was in body panels, glass, its BMW turbine alloy wheels and the headlight mechanism due to how incomplete it was.

And here is a 1952 Cadillac under some pretty ominous skies...

I will add that the smell of a junkyard, especially in the office and around the workshop & crusher, is one of my favorite smells.

I like that T Bird in the background!

The T-bird's interior is almost all there, with all the fake wood, chrome, gauges, switches and padding salvageable as either a core or usable outright once it's cleaned.

This yard's inventory is being crushed as the cars get stripped, but they have been getting new cars in periodically. The late-model yard isn't bad either.

hmmm.. maybe post pics from the late model yard too? I love emblems and badging regardless of how new or old the car is.

There were a few interesting cars there in the late-model yard (mid-70s and up), including two Opels. None of the late models had many badges...

wow. Awesome pics. Shame about the Pontiac though. :( and I think the year on that Seville is wrong. I thought the '87s were the downsized ones based off the N-body platform.

You're right, the Seville is probably a '77.

That Pontiac ambulance is truly unfortunate. It was used at the speedway in Cottage Grove, to the south of me, I remember it well from watching races and demo derbies there as a kid.

I just noticed. The ambulance is a Bonneville. I wonder coach company did those conversions.

This one's by Superior Coach. National and Barnette did quite a few in the 40s and 50s...

A lot of the cars in that yard are cars that have long since been reduced to oxidized metal around these parts, and the rest is comprised of cars that were sold in pathetically small (if any!) numbers on this coast. That blue Opel that's probably going to get crushed? I'll probably never see one in person.

As for the Pontiac ambulance, that really is a shame. :( And in it's current state, it may even bee too far gone to play gauntlet with. That's where a hearse/ambulance goes around the track for five laps and a team of derby cars tries to stop it any way they can.

I have other pics of the ambulance that I'll get around to posting soon... the ambulance is most likely in non-running condition now and is EXTREMELY rusty. The Opels will be crushed once enough parts are taken off... there aren't many at all here either.

One of my all-time favorite pics. Supposedly this car and the BMW next to it broke apart when they were moved, the BMW 2002, Mercedes R107 SL, BMW M5 and Datsun 240Z outside and a Glas GT & Iso Rivolta inside were moved to a warehouse upstate.

Is that a boattail Riviera?

Thanks, fellas! The white car is a boattail Riviera that started falling apart as it was moved. My friend Randy, who sells cars and parts, bought the wreck and removed a few trim bits, the rear glass/chrome, the GS styled steel wheels and rear bumper before scrapping the rest.

David, that's a grey-market 380SEC, so it's all the more special.

I found a MacBook Pro with a bad hard drive on Craigslist that I hope to buy and put my old MacBook Pro's hard drive into, I'll try to get some "vintage" (2009- early 2011) junkyard and abandoned car photos emailed to myself and get my iPod synced to my original library if I get it and get it done, if so, I'll post those pics up along with the others! But there are some things on that HD that are best forgotten, like a Web Archive file of Serena's Myspace page before she deleted it and some kruddy image macros.

I'm thinking it was in the woods or in vines.
