Cool score. Wonder if M2 used the same side vent windows as they used on the '68 Shelby? |

Great car, I do have a lot of respect for all cats, especially the Ford Blue ones. Lynx, Bobcat, Cougar, Tiger (Sunbeam) and the Jaguar. |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

Same here! And I can't help but think that had Mercury stuck with "The Sign Of The Cat" they'd still be around today. The day the Cougar died is the day Mercury died. The Marauder was a nice effort but without having a Cougar to piggyback off, it's hard to claim Mercury as a 'performance' division. |

I drove a 1971 Mercury Cyclone GT, dark green metallic, white interior, 351C, 4 speed w/Hurst shifter, 3.90 tractionloc. It was very respectable and a performer.

Nice Cyclone! And back then, Mercury really was a performance division- the Cougar, Cyclone, the original Marauder. These were not cars to mess with. Even the captive import Ford Capri (sold via Lincoln-Mercury dealerships though never officially branded a Mercury until the 1979 model year when it became a Mustang twin) added to the image. But in the late '70s thtough the end of the line in 2010, it's hard to make a case for Mercury being a performance division. I suppose giving Mercury hot cars would take sales away from the Mustang. |

70 grabber blue 429SCJ Cyclone Spoiler is on my dream list. Had a chance at a dark blue one back in the 80's but it was sold to a guy that tore the front clip and motor out and attached it to a Ranchero. I could just cry On the Cougar front I am still waiting patiently for a 70 grabber blue Eliminator to be made |
