That's the thing about Mattle. No lights front or back. No grill or bumper. That could have been a nice car. |

Well for 88 cents it has a pretty color for laughing out loud. Maybe with bumper and lights it might have cost the price of an Johnny Lightning but still you wouldn't be able to purchase it because it wouldn't appear on the shelf. |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
|
The problem Hot Wheels has is that it toes the line between toy and collectible. The vast majority of the range end up played to death in sandboxes, and because of that they have to build them to a price (and that magic pricepoint has been $1 for decades). Tampo hits cost money... ![]() Personally, I like it as is...but I'd love it if it had the lights and badges. |

The Gremlin Guy

I'd been a Chevy guy all my live, until I found AMC's in 1994, and since have been in love with them. But for SOME reason, I find this sky-blue Mustang, which I bought the Hotwheels version, just irresistible! I see several full-scale ones driving to work every day, and that blue is hot, and if I get a decent job or hit the lottery ( same odds on either ), I would seriously consider buying a nice blue mustang like this. It just rocks my socks. Jerry |

It's a fantastic color, and a perfectly decent product for under $1, but I refuse to buy the road racing variant of the Mustang after someone in a meeting room at Mattel that knows nothing about cars decided that it needs to look like a drag racer

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
|
Is that blue still offered on the 2012/2013 Mustangs? It seemed to me it was pushed by Ford the first two years (2010-2011), but I haveb't seen any of the newer versions wearing it. Guess I should check the Ford site. EDIT--I just checked and yes, they do still offer the blue, along with "Gotta Have it Green," a lime color.
