The Avus was not particularly popular, and I watched a lot of the later versions peghang for some time. That said, one of my favorites was the Tech Tone series. While the finish seemed random, I had the fortune to find three of the same car at the same time, and was able to compare to see the subtle differenes as the process changed a little for each one. I found it interesting, that there was a method to the seeming madness of that particular series. |

Yep, the bottom red one is the Tech Tone car. None of the castings in that particular 4 car set were very popular by themselves, but taken together in that one series I thought they were kinda cool. |

I noticed a Buick Wildcat in your Avus thread. Nice examples though. I wonder if this would've been a good precursor to the R8?

I think you will find the Wildcat is a Treasure Hunt, I think 1996...as is the Avus, which is why they are together in the same pic. |

Does this represent a real car? I've got a few of them, which I've had for years, but I've never found out what it was based on. |

Eh...I work in round figures. Close is good enough. I knew enough to know if they were not 96, they were definitely 97s. I never found them, and honestly wasn't too worried about trying to. But for a completist they would be mandatory! |

You know, I never bothered to even look. I just presumed that like so many HW of the era, they were exotic supercars like the Vector Avtech or the Zender or the Jag XJ220, all of which I know are real. Unattainable by mere mortals, but real. |

After a little searching, it appears Avus is the name of the German Grand Prix track...seems to have a rather long and storied history from the little I could tell. The Audi Avus Quattro is a concept car, as it turns out. |
