http://hwpics.blogspot.ca/2012/07/tail-dragger.html the purple one is the 1998 first edition and the green one is the first time it was reissued with the plastic base. Edited by harry, Jul 1 2012, 08:18 AM.

1941 Ford 3 window Coupe...sledded. I love it, and have from the beginning. Can't say I didn't expect a plastic base sooner or later, but this one held on for a pretty long time. The metal base ones are heavy! |

I really like this one. I have quite a few variants, including, I believe, both of these. Although I prefer factory stock, I've been going to hot rod shows long enough (since before I could walk!) that I really like this one too. It's also the earliest scale Mercury. (1941 was only the third year of Mercury) |

Well, except this is a Ford...not a Merc. Merc grill looked more like the Lincoln, and both shared a lot with the *40* Ford, but the 41 Ford had a facelift that incorporated a noticably different grill. It took me awhile and some time researching this one some time back, so I'm confident its a 1941 Ford, essentially a Business Coupe with a serious top chop, giving it a Zephyr-esque Opera Coupe look. Here's a good look at the nose of one: ![]() And here's one well on its way to having the exact same lines as the HW

You're absolutely right. I'm not feeling too good tonight, I think I'll stop posting before I make myself look any more like a fool.

Not a big deal. Nobody knows everything about everything. You're not the only one that has made the same mistake over the years. We still appreciate your input. Cheers. Cobra |

One of my all-time favorite HWs, I spent many years looking for one, ended up with several, including a few mint-in-package special editions, all were destroyed from being stored outside in the plastic hanging cases the non-DLM diecasts were displayed in, while I was in jail. The rotted, soggy or mouse/squirrel/wild rabbit-chewed blisterpacks, dulled paint, yellowed windows, rusted axles and a couple of them having no rubber on their Real Riders wheels, was heartbreaking. They were all thrown away after I spent about 5 minutes crying about thousands of dollars in diecast, tin or plastic cars ruined... |

Billy - don't worry about it. I've got no clue on a lot of small scale versions with regard to their 1/1 counterparts shown and only learn by asking . . .sometimes after mistakenly ID'ing something. Happens to us all. You're in good company.

You guys are the best....this really is my favorite forum. I meant that I was going to stop posting for the night, but I didn't think to include that. (Another mistake!) Not feeling a whole lot better today, but at least I can think a little better. At least, I hope so, LOL. |

Heh...I will readily admit that I am pretty darn clueless when it comes to a whole lot of stuff! And even the stuff I do know I can make mistakes with the best of them, lol. |
