The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Lol, I just was preparing that for posting here. You beat me to it!

Oh well, so my effort (I made a few additions and corrections- that's a '56 Buick, not a '57) isn't a total waste:

Hello All,

Mattel has provided me with a number of pictures from the future 2012 models. This includes Miniature Line, Real Working Rigs, & Skybusters.

As usual, feel free to distribute this to your friends, club members, post this information to any website, more the better. Please do give full credit to Mattel for providing these pictures.

There is a lat of information here so sit tight and enjoy the pictures. I see a lot of good graphics, good color choices, and the idea of theme models. Hope to see a number of you at the Gathering in ABQ in a couple of weeks.

Models from the 2012 Miniature Re-Colors:

London Taxi FX ....
Posted Image

Pontiac Firebird.... Looks good with greenish gold.
Posted Image

Models from the 2012 Miniature Line (New Decos):

Posted Image
Fisker Karma in dark slate blue.

Posted Image
Chevy Stepside truck in yellow.

Posted Image
BMW Z4 in black.

Posted Image
Cliff Hanger in burgundy with tampo on hood.

Posted Image
Coyote in silver with tampo on the roof.

Posted Image
The Express Delivery Truck will have different deco on each side.

Posted Image
The Chevy Suburban deco matches the deco used on the Real Working Rigs Satellite Communication Truck Potential for your own set.

Posted Image
Ford Raptor in white with "Deconstruction: Non-Explosive Implosion Experts" & "You make the call and start packing. We do the rest!" graphics.

Posted Image
Hummer H3 in red.

Posted Image
Jeep Willys in brown.

Posted Image
Lotus Europa in orange.

Posted Image
Lotus Exige in red with black stripes.

Posted Image
Recue Boat in blue.

Models from the 2012 Miniature Line (Emergency):

Posted Image
1956 Buick Century Police Car: A model that has been much anticipated by the Matchbox collectors and I am sure the emergency vehicle collectors would love it. An excellent choice of colors and very real looking. It's in the classic California Highway Patrol colors of black & white. Looks to be officially licensed by the CHP as well.

Posted Image
New Military addition is the Oshkosh M-ATV in drab green. The picture shown here is of a pre-production model. Color of the windows and rear fenders areas will be changing to gray in the production version.

Posted Image
Ford Taurus Police Interceptor.... An excellent choice of colors in silver with "Airport Police" graphics.

Create your own set:

Posted Image
Here is something that is not released as a set but you can create your own set by buying them individually. Three of the four models shown in this picture are already released.

Models of the 2012 Miniature Line (Generic):

Posted Image
A Trail Tipper (MB852) in orange with gray plastic tipper bed. The Truck bed tilts and is treaded. From the picture it does not look like it has wheels

Posted Image
We have another Snow Vehicle in copper. It is the Frost Fighter (aka 4-Tread Snow Vehicle).

Posted Image
Next we have a Water Tank. This was shown at the Gathering last year. It is the refurbishment of the Dirt Hauler/dump truck. The Dump bed has now been changed to a water tank. This design represents the kinds of Heavy duty water tankers that are used in Quarry’s and Mining operations. The MB number will be changing to reflect this revision. This was the old FAUN dump truck. An original Lesney casting getting a new lease on life in 2012. Always a good thing to see!

Model from the 2012 Real Working Rigs Line:

Posted Image
Posted Image
All-Terrain Tractor. The model features 4 working treads, rear Ripper claw raises and lowers, It articulates in the center.

Models from the 2012 Skybuster Line:

Posted Image
Turbo Tornado. It is a S.T.O.V.L. type aircraft. It has a big fan style propeller blade that rotates when you blow on it. It look wild but has great fun for the kids.

Posted Image
Sky Crane. It is a generic Matchbox design. It has a fold-down hook to pick up stuff.

Posted Image
Gunship Helicopter. This is a new tool. It has twin rotor blades. It’s ready for battle

Happy Hunting.

I truly like the '56 Buick Century Police Car. It makes me think of the old Highway Patrol TV Show with Brodrick Crawford that I grew up with. :D I do think since it is a CHP type car the roof light should be red. It is a great addition to the MB lineup along with the Seagrave Fire Engine.

This is what I remembered MB being. I like the Chevy truck and the vintage Jeep. The Buick seems to have a squat look to me. I'm not sure if it's because MB scales their American cars from the 50s/60s so small that it seems to compact the look of the 1/1 car.

I believe you are correct in your assessment, Zach. I guess we can't expect every car to be proportioned correctly, but it'll still be a fun casting to have. I bet using smaller wheels would improve the overall appearance.
My wallet will be out for these. The London Taxi looks the WAY IT SHOULD be, not that cartoon series look of the current release on the pegs. The other cars have convinced me that MB have listened to the reactions of collectors and perhaps the have noted the current pegwarmers . I'm somewhat relieved, but I want to see more 2013 cars before I think I can relax and start buying like I did a year or more ago.
I think the ship has righted its course.

Sigh of relief. Lots of good in here. Still some useless stuff, like the boat, but I love many of the cars. That Taurus Airport Police might even be my favorite, even over a CHP car!

That Exige hit me in the head. Hard. Other cars that will come home with me (if and when I find them) include the yellow Chevy pick-up, the black Z4 and maybe the white SVT Raptor (which I will try to de-tampo)

Edit: Why have you put Coyote's picture instead of the Jeep Willys?

There's actually good stuff in here...surprisingly good news. The Hummer H3 is a pleasant surprise, and I will be bringing it home.

The Willys Jeep looks good in brown, and that is likely to come home with me...the yellow Chevy pickup is a maybe...depends on how much money I am trying to save at the time.

I have mixed feelings on the Buick. As is well known, I love the 50s cars...but why does it seem like, with the exception of M2, we can't get any STOCK 50s cars? There was really no need to put a big hole in the roof here, when a simple attachment could have done the same thing and gotten us a real stock version too?

On the Buick, is the side spear tampo printed or molded into the car? It looks like it may be tampo printed, which is kind of dissapointing. It will be worse if it's molded in the front and rear but not on the door. If that is the case, I might even pass on it.

Nothing else shown interests me, but for the first time in a while with Matchbox, there actually is interesting stuff here, and that's a good thing. I had stopped even checking the Matchbox sections when I went to the stores, but with the Seagrave, and with these coming, I will have to start checking again.

Actually many London cabs look very much like the current release. Here is one example from last month.

People who have been complaining about the line, and now see these, and are only happy about the Buick police car, I have to say: Maybe Matchbox just isnt up your alley. The BMW Z4 is beautiful, as is the Lotus Exige. The Hummer needs silver for the headlights and grille, but it is otherwise awesome. The generics still do nothing for me, nor do the Working Rigs or Skybusters. But the licensed regular issue cars are looking stellar. This is what we have been begging for, and I will be showing my support via my wallet.

On the Contrary, I've been collecting Matchbox since 1993... Perhaps not quite as long as some of you guys, but none the less, a long time. The only years I remember not purchasing a single car were the Hero City days and 2012. Realism is my thing and often times they are spot on, but 2012 has flat out stunk in my humble opinion. Matchbox doesn't need fantasy type tampos and out of this world, dreamt it up after smoking the whole bag designs. That's why we have some of the castings Hot Wheels comes up with.

Dean's not talking about those- he's talking about the cars previewed in this thread- like the plain black BMW & greenish-gold Firebird that have absolutely no obnoxious tampos.

Hey everyone, this is my first post on here. Many will know me from MCCH and MCF. I'll try and poke my head in here every now and again.

I like what I see from these photos. The majority all look worth collecting and I hope it signals a change in direction to what we have been used to post Hero City. I am really looking forward to hearing further news from the Gathering. I wish I coule be there.
