It's really, really interesting to see all of the community's feedback about most of the topics I post here. I have one about your favorite 2013 New Model: http://swiftysgarage.net/topic/6950545/1/#new One about you favorite model ever: http://swiftysgarage.net/topic/6939477/1/#new And, one about your least favorite: http://swiftysgarage.net/topic/6948309/1/#new Well, I've started a new one, and it's about a model you'd either like to see back in the lineup, or like to see it have more designs in the lineup Mine is here: ![]() The Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR. I know this isn't in the lineup anymore because Mercedes-Benz had licensing disagreements with Mattel. I believe it had to do with the fact that Mercedes wanted a hologram picture of the McLaren SLR on the packaging. Mattel wasn't able to do this because of costs. Anyways, the casting of the SLR was literally spot on, and looked fantastic. I would absolutely love to see this model back in the line, as it's striking, fast, and elite as a car and a 1:64 scale model. So, if there was one Matchbox model that you'd like to see back on the pegs or have more designs, which model would it be?

Mercury Sable Wagon. I can't believe it only came in one color in the mainline, and one premium release (Brady Bunch woody). I'd love to see it in at least three more stock looking colors. |

I second this!!! I would also love to see the Dodge Daytona Turbo Z make a return!! That is my favorite MB of all time and I would love to see it in some other stock colors as well (without tampos and stripes all over it)... |

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
|
Everything I see above I would like to see come back and I would buy multiples! There is so much MORE by MBX I'd like to see. The Mercury Sable wagon and the Lincoln Town car are high on my lists. They could be modernized with a bit of retooling, and wagons are "in" now, anyway. |

I like to see that one too but retooled because its too wide and short. I am with mbx64, I would like to see the Mercedes McLaren back into the line. If Hot Wheels (of course Mattel) could cater to Ferrari special needs to obtain their license. I can't see why they can't jump a few hoops to get the license for Mercedes. Its not like they can't afford it. |

Although not a popular choice based upon the answers given, I'd really like to see the 1984 Dodge Caravan. It's a bread-and-butter vehicle, nothing too spectacular, but these were everywhere when I was in my formative years. |

Atencio - that is one great Matchbox you have there! You know, I don't even think that David or John would even open that! Well, I figure I'll add one more to the list that I'd like to see back in the line-up: ![]() The Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I know, I know. It's been in a lot of 5-packs, but, usually in the Taxi conversion. Think about the brand-new Airport 5-pack. it has a Crown Vic in it, but the Taxi, not the Police Interceptor. The Crown Vic is the most iconic police car in the history of all the police cars, and I say that with 100% confidence. I don't see why Matchbox hasn't been putting it in the 1-100/1-120 line for 4 years now. It always looked great, and never stayed on the pegs long. Oh, one other thing, I wish that if it were to be brought back, they'd fix the plastic lights. I think that looks a bit, er.., not right. Is it a licensing thing with Ford? Think about it, the Transit had plastic lights, the Crown Vic, the Fiesta RC Hot Wheels, etc. I think if the casting were to be retooled, it would make a wonderful model to be back on the pegs. |

But that's my favorite part of those castings. I doubt it's a licensing issue, so much as a design issue. All of the models listed are cars intended to get lots of side tampo hits leaving none for the front or rear. By making the lights part of the windshield piece, it prevents the lights from being body-color. Also, making them plastic instead of metal saves precious fractions of ounces. That helps keep costs down and honestly, I think it adds realism to the models. It certainly beats having body color lights with no detailing. As for my pick of one casting to see come back? 1993 Toyota Supra. |

Well, I don't REALLY dislike the plastic lights, but on the Crown Vic, they don't look right. The Crown Vic has awkward lights, and it could've been easily captured had it been part of the metal casting. The plastic lights aren't shaped right, and they bend in a little, too. However, I think the plastic lights look fine on the 2006 Ford Transit. |

As mentioned above, the Dodge Caravan and Ford LTD would be great along with the 80s Dodge Dakota. The Holden Panel truck that was issued years back would be cool. My personal #1 would be to see the Chevy Panel Van inlcluded back in either the $1 line or the 60th Anniversary.

I have 2 models I would like to see return. Well actually, it is not so much return as actually debut in the basic range. The first one is the MB534 BMW 3-series Cabrio. This model was launched in the BMW dealer set of 8 models in 2002, and in 2003 was used in the Stars of Germany series. Therefore during its entire lifetime it was only ever found in green or blue, and both were not common releases. It never appeared in the basic range. It is such a lovely little casting as well. The other is even older. The MB199 Ford Courier with windows on the side. Matchbox created this casting as a promotional for the release of the real vehicle, and also the MB198 Courier van. The Courier van appeared in the basic range a few times, and also had numerous promos done too. The version with windows on the side was never seen again, and is only found in red as a promo model. It is such a shame as I liked the window model. |

Yes, what a great choice! I think the BMW 3-Series E46 Cabrio would be a fantastic model to be in the line-up! Well, BMW has been really dishing out castings with both Matchbox and Hot Wheels. Hot Wheels got the Z4 M GT3, the M3 GT2, and a 2002. Matchbox got the BMW R1800 Sport Bike, the Z4 Convertible back in the line, the Mini Cooper Convertible last year, and next year we're getting a BMW R1200 (I believe, not too good with bikes) and a BMW 1 Series M Coupe. You know David, I think one of your choices may have a possibility of making it back in the line with BMW and Mattel's licensing disagreements far in the past. Oh, and is it possible that you know anything about why Mercedes-Benz does not make a licensing agreement with Mattel? I believe it had to do with a holographic picture.....could you clarify?

I ended up making my own versions as I wait for Mattel and MB to work it out. I just find it interesting that Maisto can put the hologram on their .84 cent cheapies and Matchbox can not....

Wow 94SS, those Mercedes McLaren SLRs look wicked with those five spoke rims on them! Nice detailing as well! Oh, and if memory serves me right, the black McLaren didn't originally have a red interior, correct? I don't feel like digging mine out......
